WR weigh in on this

So in order to advance my career forward it’s pretty obvious to me I’m going to have to leave my current company for that next role. I’m very happy in my current role and making great money but I do want to become a manager and my company simply won’t have an expanded team for 2-3 years at minimum. I have an interview set up with an indirect competitor to us and yesterday they called me 2 1/2 hours before my interview needing to reschedule to today and just now said hey super sorry but we need to cancel and reschedule again. To me this is a huge red flag. It feels like if they won’t treat this as a priority now what will they do if I get hired and need resources 3 months down the line… would really love to hear what you fellow savages think.

It's pretty unusual for sure. What's the reason they gave you?

CEO called meetings on back to back days with the person I was supposed to be speaking for with

I'd stay with current company for the following reasons:

1.) You know what to expect with them, this new company could be a crapshoot.
2.) You're comfortable and happy; i'd maintain this QOL as long as feasible and as long as it doesn't interfere with your long term planning.
3.) At most, you're looking at not being in leadership for three years. Think of it like this: That's three more years of good money and comfort.

You simply don't know enough about the new company to potentially gamble the above away, IMO

Yes, pretty sure I’m gonna tell that new company that I’m not interested anymore. I am interviewing elsewhere only for what I’d consider an upgrade ie.(6 figure base and OTE  the 200+ range)

This right here. You'd be leaving something that is very known for risk and promise in a sea of unknown. You said yourself you are very happy with the current role. While there isn't a spot in management right now, I imagine there are ways to display management qualities so when the opportunity does arise at your current gig/elsewhere, it would be a no brainer who to fill in.

Can you volunteer to be a mentor/coach to newer or lower performing reps?

Yea after 2 times I'm super annoyed but as the saying goes three strikes and you're out

One of the interviewers called me and was apologizing and I was respectful but I said candidly it’s a bit of a concern that back to back days you guys can’t hold a meeting to something you tell me is a priority so what gives?

The silence from the other end was deafening. I was being super careful to not be a dick but at the same time be clear this is not really giving me good signals and she was silent then said the recruiter would reach out to me.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Companies are at their best when they're interviewing. If this is how a company acts when interviewing, I can't imagine how shitty it will be to work there.

Yeah @CaneWolf true story,  I called the recruiter yesterday to say that there's too many red flags. The way I found out the 2nd time they didn't even call me they just sent a cancellation email to me and said they want to reschedule without offering a new time. As Kevin O'Leary usually says "I'm out"

All of my friends who are front-line managers are talking about how their companies are hiring non-stop and paying out the ass for talent. You don't need to put up with bullshit from anybody right now.

I got referred through an agency for the role and the agency called me to try to hard sell to get me to stick to it and I just stuck to my guns and said no too many red flags I'm out. the owner of the agency was like hey man I actually really respect what you just said and if I were you I'd do the same thing. Let's stay in touch in the future.

I try to give people 3 strikes, if they reschedule for a 3rd time then I would move on something else.

I mean back-to-back days where I moved things around and they stressed that this is a priority…

Yeah that’s annoying, I would confront them about it. From reading the other comments, seems like you did so that’s good.

Go full sales pro on them with a line like "It seems that filling this role isn't a top priority of your team based on our reschedules. Is that a fair assumption". Should see an offer by close of business.

I basically did that to the person that called me to reschedule again.

You could have heard a pin drop through the phone microphone. Then she said the recruiter would reach out to me and rushed off the phone.

They don't value your time. The second delay being an email instead of a phone call confirms that. Just because they don't value your time doesn't me you shouldn't value your time. The agency you submitted through needs to have a talk with the client if this is truly a priority.
