You are 95% sure you're not the vendor

Prospect comes in hot. "Loves" us and our services. Misses 4 meetings in a row, radio silence. Goes to website and asks for a price quote. I suspect he needs a third price quote.

If you're all ego, you lowball him and make the other vendor drop their prices. Or if you're a professional, you hold pricing and make him do another discovery. From my experience, I feel like they've chosen another vendor. Maybe something's changed and the other vendor dropped the ball?

What would you do?

Iโ€™d be asking why the urgency after the radio silence.

Yah, screw that guy.
Find out if his procurement is making him do this.

It might be tempting to be petty, but if you're wrong then what do you say to your management when he comes back trying to sign at something you can't do?

95% is not 100% but if they're ghosting, it's probably bad news. So move on!!

If I moved on every time someone ghosted me, I'd probably have half my sales.

Solution: start selling quotes.

I can mention a price on a phone call no problem, but sending quotes is a different ball game.

Quotes are SALES documents - used for the customer to request finance, or so that they can be clear internally about what they are ordering, or a big wig you haven't met has to sign off on it.
If they intend to order something then charging a fee (which would be credited towards the order) should not be a problem.
If they are reluctant to pay the fee either there is more discovery to be done, or they do not intend to order from you.
