You're talking about DOOR KNOCKS?!

Before The 'Rona came along and crushed my sales spirit, I used to knock on doors. I wasn't trying to one call close. It was more a fact finding mission, take a look at their current telelcome infastructure, see how much information I could squeeze out of the receptionist, get contact information for the DM, and then bounce.

This is how I used to prospect and it was great because it gave me WAY more information than some bullshit list marketing pulled together.

It's definitely old school, but I knew that for every 50 doors I hit, I'd get three meetings, two proposals and one closed deal. When the pipe is empty, hit the streets.

Anyone else still kicking it oldschool?

I donโ€™t have the opportunity anymore based on territories but if I could I would....this is the surefire way to get pipeline and itโ€™s a lot more fun to be turned away in person than over the phone.

Glad I'm not the only one!ย  Being told to "fuck off" over the phone is so impersonal;)

But even with that being said, being told off from time to time is what being a sales person is all about, am I right?

Oh, it's the fucking worst BUT it is a time-tested and proven way to get business.ย  I mean legit, written in stone, if I knock on 50 doors, I WILL get AT LEAST one deal!ย  Every time.ย ย

Yeah so that's a little different, there you're actually looking for the sale.ย  With my product, it was more a fact-finding mission.

I sell VoIP.ย  So, I'm knocking on doors, i"m just looking to gather some information and grab contact info.ย

I think you have a product well tailored to that. Do you think it would work for everyone? I foresee that being tougher for people who sell thinks like ERP, supply chain software, etc.

I'd kill for a 50 call to a legit opp ratio but not even close at this point

I used to do it. In my business center there were so many start ups. I was calling the switchboard, the prospect didn't want to talk. So I walked out of the office with nobody understanding wtf I was doing to get the prospect directly in person. It was actually the most funny thing to do, and super efficient

I thought "kicking it old school" was cool... like Run DMC or wearing Chuck Taylor's (I'm old). ย This sounds terrible.ย

@Captain_Qย after this post I'm 80% sure you're secretly my boss, hiding behind a screen. Though I'm not sure he'd ever say 'Rona, but then again maybe that was an attempt to stay anon?ย ๐Ÿคฏ

Old school always. Construction accounts love mouse pads when the time comes for an unexpected drop in. (pro tip)
