Chances are most everyone here was already aware of the above statement. Still, it sits on my mind all of the time.
The saying "they bought it" when "selling" a bullshit story to someone. Makes a lot of sense.
I would say we begin selling even from infancy. This has really come to my attention as I've raised my daughter. She's three years old now but she already knows how to play the game.
She has learned who she should ask for what. She knows what pain points to leverage when making her pitch, be it to her mother, or myself.
Her rapport building is incredible. I don't even think she was two years old yet when she discovered how far she can get with dad by starting the request with "I love you dad" or a simple hug and kiss on the cheek.
As we get older our audience changes, our requests start to vary a lot more but at the end of the day, we are constantly selling the product that is ourselves.
We all know that people buy from people they like. Every time we interact with another human we are definitely selling. Sometimes we suck at it.
Admittedly there isn't a lot within this post that should be news to anyone here but ADHD got me off on some mental tangent and I figured I'd take ya'll along for the ride.
