Your choice forever...WFH or In Office? Choose wisely

Ok, so we have all had enough experience (given the last 14 months) with working from home or in a remote office. But if you could only choose one as your preference forever, what would it be?

I personally can't stand WFH, my home is my dojo, my bubble, my palace. I want nothing to do with work while I'm at home, so maybe thats just me. I prefer the energy of being in the office (I love our Co Culture) with the whole office buzzing. I have a completely different mindset in the office and focus is much easier to maintain and be productive.

Love to hear everyone's thoughts on their work surroundings during the Pandy and how it has changed or not changed your thoughts on in-office work.

Would really prefer a mixture of 3 days from home and 2 days at the office if I had the choice.

I like my extra hour of sleep, also getting more used to setting boundaries between work time and play time..

But still missing that f2f interaction at the office with my peers.. I think I actually got more energy out of that than I was realizing back then..

The blended/mixed/hybrid schedule is what I hear most people calling for these days, and I think many companies will oblige.

Haha the extra hour of sleep is a motivation booster in itself. The f2f interaction with peers is everything for me. I was never one to study in the library I always went to a coffee shop or bar, I just do better with activity in my surroundings.

Hybrid Schedule 100%.  The catch is that there shouldn’t be a predetermined expectation on which day/days each week you’d be in the office.  A sales role is dynamic and we’ve been hired to the position for a reason. If there’s a compelling reason to be in the office, I’d be glad it’s there.  Otherwise I’d expect management to trust me to do my job and allow me the autonomy to perform - as long as I am, performing.

Strong consistent results should be met with greater trust and freedom.  Remember, we got into sales for the commission, not the base pay (if there is one).

Thing that worries me is the development of early career employees working from home. I feel there is a lot of learning lost not being on the sales floor.

am I just paranoid?

Nah, I agree. New reps should be at the office for at least the first 6-9 months. I also think WFH is a privilege to be earned, and employees should demonstrate they can keep on task, close deals, and remained organized IN office before they're permitted to work remotely.

I agree completely, it should be 100% on the individual to WFH or in office. The same way it is 100% on him/her for doing their jobs or not. The freedom comes with the responsibility, earned by trust.
