Your company & your reputation - re: effects and repercussions (from ‘espionage’ and beyond)

all the current drama / news highlights in this HR tech face-off has me thinking... how much does a/your current company reflect your own reputation & personal brand? if you work at a mid-size company (that becomes embroiled in scandal/etc) are individual sellers themselves then donning a big scarlet letter? is being associated with a messy situation going to negatively affect your own prospects going forward?

if you work at a company with a major scandal

As much as I think what Deel did was idiotic, its not like a Theranos situation where they actually hurt people. Similarly, as long as my company isnt hurting people, I dont really care.

Changing my opinion here, until now I didn’t think CEO of Deel was involved that’s not really positive news for an organisation. Like the amount of lies from CEO… what else is he lying about?

Of course, no? If the company scams, doesn't make you a scammer.

Most people aren’t decision-makers at the top, and one bad headline doesn’t define an entire workforce. It definitely makes it tough to work there but shouldn't be the worst situation.

I agree but then we have likes of Theranos, FTX, Frank and now Deel where CEOs are involved then that’s a big bloody screaming scarlet letter to get out

Unless you are VP or above the company performance is very much non representative of you. thats why Hiring managers care about your numbers when they interview you not the company performance

We're all just cogs in the wheel.

Nobody thinks an AE is pulling those kinds of strings.

Based on a news article: Guy applied to work at Deel, didn’t get it. Deel CEO proposed he spy for them. This payroll manager spy got paid 5k per month, first via bank transfer and then in crypto. Then Deel was like if you do it and don’t cooperate with Rippling we will relocate you and your family from Ireland to Dubai but left him dry pretty much. As he was arrested Deel CEO and legal told him to shift the narrative and tell everyone that he was finding sus Russian payments at Rippling which was obv false. So then OBrien didn’t want to keep up lie up

But it’s interesting because the Deel CEO seems like another fraud on Forbes 30 under 30 list

Might go further in Dublin than NA, but STILL.

Pennies.

For a complete loss of integrity, future employability, and likely incarceration/criminal record.

Talk about a cheap as chips Red Letter...

Outside of the feedback already on here it varies by person too. May reflect bad in one persons eyes, may be a flipping hero in another’s
