The War Room
Question
Post

Your favorite industry/persona to sell?

I’ve only been with 2 SaaS companies so far.

1 that sold to non profits (VERY niche) and I don’t think I’d ever go that route again.

Now I’m in the healthcare space selling to strategy/business development/finance folks.

The latter has been a lot more enjoyable so far. Granted this is month 1 but I see this being a long lasting thing for me.

What has been your most enjoyable industry/persona to sell into?

Recruitment is fun for me. Typically these people are much more fun to talk to. I've found marketers BS a lot and aren't often serious about buying. Not what I expected so I didn't enjoy that as much.

Yeah, Recruiting is nice. Plus, they love to talk so it’s usually a good conversation.

I forgot to mention that I was with a staffing agency and sold to HR/Talent teams - probably some of the more easy going folks out there.

CTOs. They are always putting out fires, and if my tool is a better extinguisher they will jump on it.

This is true. Have you had good success booking meetings via email with them?

I find the IT persona responds much better to email than phone prospecting.

I love selling into procurement... call me a masochist, but the long-drawn-out process almost always results in the most lucrative deals. Other than that, CEO's because once you get a hold of them, they don't need anyones approval!

Lmao! Yeah you might win a special award for dealing with procurement. The CEO connects are nice but I’ve been in too many situations where it becomes a referral down (which isn’t bad by any means).

I like selling into non profits/charities to HR and executive teams. I find our value prop djg product resonates well with them and they're usually pleasant to deal with.

Leading non profits, sure…

I’ve been on calls with these 60-70 year old Executive Directors and that’ll be damn if $1500 was the biggest number they’ve seen.

For me it’s an industry that I find interesting, it’s something that I generally know a lot about, and I’ve also found that most of my prospect are a similar personality type to myself which helps too!

CTOs! Especially if you can talk high level tech and vision of a product. Then they have their minions eat from the buffet you're serving and if you picked the right cart (company/product) to back. Oh they'll be fasting for a long time and you'll watch that commission roll in consistently.

This is a good one LOL. Are CTOs more talkative than one would imagine?

Believe it or not they are. But only if you talk about shit they wanna talk about haha. Like them on and the stuff they're building.

Selling to revenue generating teams is super fun! They know where you are coming from and understand/respect the negotiation process.

Absolutely, no doubt about that. I’ve been wondering what it’s like selling to rev teams - I think it could be great but they also know the tactics too.

Anyone on the biz dev side of things. My company's product can actually help generate more revenue plus I can make introductions to others in our network who are looking to scale together
