Your words're tellin me no. But email tracking, email tracking is tellin me yesss!

So pretty large account I've been working on. Lady has told me twice "we're not buying" but keeps opening the same email.

I can't reach out again because the last time she told me no she followed up with the good old "remove me from your list" shit.

Since then has opened the same email two more times.

Thoughts?

Is it possible the email tracking is sending out false open notifications?

It's possible that email has been forwarded to others, and down-line tracking is showing you false positives.

That's not a bad thing I guess. Unless of course, she is forwarding it to tell people not to talk to this shithead.

They say I opened the email...
Wasn't me
They say I clicked the embedded link...
Wasn't me
They said I forwarded it to my team...

This is very true and confusing as the sales person stalking the stats.ย  It also means there is a reason to forward, conversation that is occuring.ย

Could be:

- error on the email tracking's end

- prospect is forwarding to other people as an FYI and they're opening it

- she's cleaning out her inbox and clicking through emails causing it to keep opening

If she says to remove her from your list that's a pretty foolproof indicator that she ain't buyin shit anytime soon.

Yeah that's why I'm getting these mixed signals. I was going through her record and it seems like she likes to get hung up on pricing and is constantly trying to get shit for free so I've decided to just go over her head anyways.

Regardless, I'd trust the prospects word more than email tracking.

For sure, definitely not going to be reaching back out to her. There are several other folks in the org I can go after.

Really just hoping that the multiple opens means that there may be some level of interest if not from her specifically.

Many a times it happens that if you open an email, it still shows as open..ย

Didnโ€™t your mom ever tell you that no means no & that you need explicit consent?
Move on to one who actually wants your time & energy. Once she sees that, or that youโ€™re no longer chasing her tail because you got BDE enough to ignore her sheโ€™ll get FOMO jelly and want to know whatโ€™s up like Doja Cat. Thatโ€™s the one thing I learnt in college.
End of line.

most "email open" triggers are tracked via pixel placement on the email, every time your client scrolls past the email (assuming they have preview mode on) triggers the "open" - IE, the prospect still likely isn't interested but keeps scrolling past your email.ย  Good news I suppose, it hasn't been deleted.ย

Have a look at Pixels within emails, quite an annoying problem!ย

This is exactly why I stopped using those trackers, I was getting too granular with the open/forward/click metrics rather than just picking up the damn phone and seeing what's up with my buyers.

Open rates and forwards won't tell you if you're in the running or not, if there are unanswered questions or concerns, or if you need to rephrase your value prop.

Could have been forwarded to someone else who opened it, its could be the companies spam filter opening it up. It could just be that she is sweeping her inbox and opens it thinking its important and them quickly realises its another damn sales email, closes it and puts her phone on silent in anticipation of your impending call.
