Am I the only one that thinks using calendy makes you look like a dink?

Especially when they ask me for the meeting then send me their calendar before I’ve said yes?

I dunno. Makes me go… hmmm someone thinks themselves quite important.

Does it save time back and forth? Perhaps. Does that make it acceptable ? Meh. I’m a no on this, But my boss likes it and wants us to look into using this . Anyone actually use this and like it?! even when my conworkers say check my calendar I think pffffft . You sound like a dink. Like people who say they are too busy to watch tv. Shut up! No you’re not . Come on now.

and if this has been posted before ? So what. I clearly don’t like time saving tools like “search” feature 🤗

I have a sales manager who won’t ever ask people for meeting times and forces us to send blind invites to prospects. Super awkward. Unprofessional. And the move of a true douch bag unprofessional sales manager. Plus it almost never works, always reschedules, and just creates a mess plus fucking waste of time.

I don’t have Twitter.

but if you want to show me it, you can book a time  via my calendy?

thanks 😎

I don't like calendly. I would much rather just discuss times. Also, when prospecting I don't want to put the ball in their court to pick. I want to give some options that will fit but not make them go through work to find time with me. The more they have to do in order to "be my prospect"  then the harder I'll have to work to "sell to them".

Calendy is good for people who are hitting your website and requesting a call or something.  But its an awful tool for SDRs or others involved in outbound prospecting.

When I first joined this company, a calendly "book time with me!" link was in my signature.  After a year, not one booked meeting via that tool - all done via me making magic happen through offering times based on team availability and working with the customer.

So for me, it made zero difference.

I was thinking of putting a link like that in my signature. Glad you brought that up, so I don't waste my time!

The ability to directly book a time has been a game changer for me in time to meeting. Huge reduction in time spent on the rat chase of open avails.

From their standpoint. You have to understand everyone you’re speaking with has different priorities, you’ve established the reason they need to meet with you - there is some level of interest. Let them easily book the meeting instead of going back and forth on calendar.

I never use it at a CTA in cold outreach, HOWEVER, a link is in my signature. I’ve had people book off it on cold outreach because it’s just there.

the only problem with this strategy is that a lot of spam filters will see an external email that has a link in it and automatically mark it as spam. Once I learned that I quit putting any links in cold outreach.

Well I need to tell our Marketing team to F off then. They keep sticking our annual conference image/link in our hidden email footer.

Good tip!

Have heard this argument a lot and it seems to come from people who have had a bad experience on the receiving end of a calendly link.

Great for:
- getting meetings booked on AE's calendars from the website
- after interest is established and you feel like you're about to enter the classic back and forth "what time works for you" email exchange.
- just calling them might be easier, but maybe you've tried and can't seem to connect.

When I can see that we're about to get into that email exchange, I position the calendly link like: "hey, this meeting really is about you and your needs. Including your time...I use this to easily find a time that works best for you. If this doesn't help, let me know what time works best for you."

Dont use it this way:
- SDR's spamming the hell out of prospects in an outbound cadence asking for time. Do some research, talk about their problems/needs then ask for interest, not time.
- sending it with a short message that just says "sure, find time on my calendar." THOSE people are fat dinks.
- overall laziness at any point in the sales cycle.

I think you’re wrong. The amount of wasted energy trying to look for time slots that are available over email is useless. I’m giving you my full schedule so people always find something

I have the exact same thought. And really trying to reflect upon what is it about this that makes me irritated while for others it's just normal?

1.) I hate when someone says "Check my Calendar"
2.) I hate when someone sends me a link for me to pick the time slot arround their availability. It feels one-sided - It feels the other person has put forward a non-negotiable stance about their availability. I percieve it as rude.

But then interestingly, I do work with Exec Assistants when someone had said "Can you work with my assisstant TADADA to fix up a meeting."

so it is about people putting a software/robot infront of me while I am showing up as a human for their care?

Agreed. Comes off as super self important, I’m sooooo busy and important so please use this tool to book a time slot. I’ll be signing autographs after the meeting … lmmao. I can’t get over the vibe of it in the first place to give it a fair shot. Not my style.

Great question. I typically have an internal chat with whomever I need on the call - get a few open blocks, email the customer with options - then book it.  Doesn’t seem to be that much of a hassle imo. Like no one has time to book time now? The calendy invite always make me cringe, I’m ok to do a little planning to book a meeting to be honest.

but could just be me, I know some people love it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Makes sense. I ask because I agree that calendly isn't a great vibe for a seller. I wouldn't just send my link to a prospect and say "please grab time here."

But I also think the back n forth creates opportunity for deals to slow down. If I (rep) suggest times, you (prospect) say those don't work but don't offer an alternative ... we get stuck in limbo.

Dunno what's the right solution. Especially when there are multiple stakeholders from the customer side.

If it's via email, they may only give 1-2 different times. What if you have other meetings during those times? You're now in a back and forth email exchange that is literally solved with things like Calendly, Chili Piper, etc.

If there is mutual interest to meet, it's worked really well for me to say either "Do you have a calendly link or something similar to help us find times easily?" OR "I use this link to easily find a time that works best for both of us. What time works best for you?"

I try to clearly state "this time really is all about you and your needs, when works best for you?"

Of course you could just ask them the best time if you're on the phone, but can't always have these conversations over the phone imo.

Wouldn't you know the link addicts in marketing put it in all of our email cadences.

I've got some meetings from it but a very small few and usually inbound leads anyway. Can be useful if you're already in contact and scheduling something is tough with a lot of back and forth. I'd always ask them to agree to it first though.

I only use calendly when coordinating with multiple people, and I don’t have access to their calendars. For example, there are 3 people from the customer, so rather than give them a couple of blocks (or after I try to), I’ll just send them the link and tell them I’ll be there whenever they can coordinate

I don't see any difference between using calendly or suggesting times to them. I'm not blanket sending it out, but if someone responds via email they want to meet it's easier to find a time that lines up for us both that way instead of going back and forth. I also don't use calendly though. I use a tool that imbeds it into the body of the email so they don't have to go to anything external to book it. Plus since it's in the body of the email, they don't have to put any info in. It just books it using their email address and the name associated with it.

because I have no clue what it's called 😂 up until recently I thought it was a feature of gmail lol. I just have a button that says "propose times" in the email window where you would click to add an attachment, change the font, all that, then it pulls up my google calendar to select what time slots I want to insert into the body.

yeah, never send a calendar link before they have agreed to a meeting. thats just dumb.

Once they have agreed to meet, calendy is the way to go. nothing slows the process down like going back and forth via email about availability.

Yeah and people are less likely to schedule with you if you just send them a link vs just asking are you free  x date or y date? Morning or afternoon? 8 or 10 am?

I love Calendly, but the tool needs to be used appropriately.

Spamming out your Calendly links in cold emails/LinkedIn will do nothing for you. When someone agrees to a meeting then I send off the Calendly link.

I also screen share my Calendly when booking in next meeting with prospects because it simplifies the process.

Calendly can be set up to send automated follow-up emails. I set mine to request personal reviews, and I would show that off when meeting with new prospects.

Hope this helps.
