Has Sales been right for you?

I am always talking with people who say "I could never do that" when I say that I'm in sales. Yet in my mind, its all I really can do. Sure, I could do something else, but I remember getting A's in my university Accounting classes and hating them. I couldn't do anything which kept me in a desk 99% of the time, didn't challenge me, nor reward me based on my efforts.

Did you settle for a career in Sales? Is Sales just a resting area till you either find what you're looking for or what you really wanted to do for a living? Did you land in Sales and "settled" for selling as a career.

-OR-

Have you been in Sales since the beginning and (like me) couldn't see yourself doing anything else?

Never in a million years did I visualize myself in sales.
However, what I sell did not exist when I was at University. Not that I would have been anywhere near classes about it at the time, but stillโ€ฆ
Now, Iโ€™ve been doing it for so long, ridden a wave of change, and there is nothing else that is both aggravating and exhilarating at the same time, while affording me a great lifestyle. Iโ€™m grateful.

What I sell didnโ€™t exist either, except this it is software, but software has been around a long time now.

I did not see my self in sales at all. Was going to be a software developer. But started to realized I enjoyed solving problems my talking/listening to people. I donโ€™t see myself leaving tech sales anytime soon.

My first major was Computer Science but here was just too much math. Switched to CISโ€ฆ much less math.

I started as a way to pay the bills to get through uni. Unfortunately (or fortunately) by the time I finished uni I was faced with a 2-3x pay cut if I stopped sales and used my degree. Made the decision to dive in completely as a career path and never looked back.ย

I was supposed to be in the army but got medically DQd and then tried foreign policy but couldn't get a clearance, so kinda just found sales and it went well.. So far.ย

I'm sure I could do other things.

But with the flex, money, and movement opps - why would I?
