I don't read any company profiles' content

Our content team is making quality sales content on LinkedIn.

Yet, engagement and following are not growing fast.

As for me, I don't read any company profiles regularly for my professional interest. I can check some profiles but only to understand what competitors or clients do. It all feels promotional.

So i am interested do you have your favorite companies' social media profiles that you check regularly because guys are doing great things? I am eager to see them and may be following too.

Blow it up
To answer your question, no I rarely read a company's profile on LI. I usually know about them before and follow just to stay up to date. I feel the algorithm sucks though as I miss a lot of content and get fed lots of garbage.

From the marketing side, we're trying to grow our engagement base and I've found the content that gets the best reaction is a combination of the following:

- Selfless (i.e. charity campaigns)
- Humour
- Informative (how to do something, or something interesting)

The big key is to not make it all about you or your company. Have your company be in a supporting role but put the emphasis on others. The occasional self-pump post is ok, but too many will earn quick unfollows.

I'm very much a value-first kind of salesman. I want the customer to want to work with me and I feel one of the best ways to do that is to add value and give information for free first and let the business follow.

My boss is of a different mind. He wants to give things away only for a price, with some information not for sale at all.

We butt heads often on it, but my methods have grown our followers by almost 50% and visitors by almost 1000% since last year. All that keeping in mind the previous numbers were horrible, so its not like I'm moving mountains.

Are you developing your own Li profile by mentioning company's or how do you relate to company acc growth?

I do both. I tag partner companies when sharing content that is relevant to them, like resharing a customer's big win that we helped on. I will also do a random post about our growth, awards, or developments in a market and try to spin it as something that is interesting to everyone instead of a "hey we're awesome" update.

As an example, we did lots of PPE in the last few years and the photos of pallets of equipment with mentions of supporting medical workers had nice impressions. I just did a campaign about donating equipment and money to support kids in Ukraine and we're now getting leads from it. The key for me was to go into it wanting to help and raise awarness, not looking for business. It has to be genuine.

I find the only people likely to engage in "about me" posts are those who already do business or want to do business, which while nice, are not the impressions I really want to get.ย

I've found that most companies content they put out is usually just corporate speak that doesn't actually say much. So many companies have these slick websites, but you can read every damn page and still not have any idea what they do and who they sell to. It's wild because they probably paid out of the ass for all that slick website development but then didn't put the effort in to fill it with actually relevant content.

Depends, I use their CRM and they do have some good articles both to help learn the system and just in regards to creating good emails and sequences, not sure about their website on sales/market facing side of things.ย
