New Offer

Seems like a no brainer, but would love any input!

Current Role- BDR Lead- 60k Base 75k OTE with amazing perks (AMEX for lunch everyday, travel to Europe once a year, free iPhone, Internet/Cable paid, 100% Healthcare that's really good) The company itself is healthy and thriving but not alot of room to grow for the next year until they add another AE in the US market. We did 92% over goal for sales this year, so they want me to go the CSM route. Product-Market fit is stellar too. Smaller company 60 employees an about 10mm a year in revenue

New Offer- Mid Market AE, 65k base 130k OTE (Uncapped) with first three months paid at OTE. Apple OS setup and new office stipend, Company just hit Unicorn status this past year, and 8k shares in equity (pre-ipo), fixed budget ($170) for internet/office expense. Fully remote, SKO in Vegas, with lots of room to move up as they're funded to double in size by beginning of 2024.

I had 6 years of closing experience in Marketing Tech and Advertising before a 2 year sabbatical that I took after going pro as a wakeboarder. Had to start at the BDR ranks to break into SaaS, and this is my first offer to get back into a closing position.

If you want a closing role, this sounds like a pretty great opportunity. Your current company sounds cool but I myself wouldn't want to spend another year as a BDR if I were you.

Thanks for the affirmation on what I feel as well. Current company is kinda pissed but still supportive and understanding.

idk why they'd be pissed, but who cares. Nobody in their right mind wants to remain a BDR forever and they don't have any room for growth right now. Look after yourself first. Good luck!

Sounds like you already told your current company, so even more of a no brainer. If you stay, they'll know you've already got one foot out the door.

Agreed...in the future, don't tell your company you're even thinking of leaving until your new offer letter is signed and filed.

I've waited sometimes until the background check is finalized. Never know if something weird comes up and delays things.

@GreenSideย To both- Our company is HQ out of Denmark, and the leadership over here came from over there so the culture comes with it. Which is a positive thing for the most part. Part of that is that it's normal to be open about making career moves, and typically encouraged by your leadership to ask for help or support if moving on is what's right.

So what does that tell you about the reality of hitting $130k or avoiding a PIP on the next year? If its 40% then maybe itโ€™s PIP free otherwise theyโ€™d all be fired.ย

2nd role looks good to me because if want to be an AE. Even if you hit 40%, you will still make more money.

if closing is something you aspire to do, did you try to speak to your company as you sound to be very happy there?

Definitely a no brainer. Higher OTE, room to move up, 8k shares at their current valuation and slated to double in size over the next few years = big money when they IPO.
