SKO thread

My company wrapped up our sales/company kick off last week, and booooiiiii did it suck. We did this weird hybrid in-person/virtual thing where all the presentations were over zoom, but if you wanted to come in you could sit in a large conference room with a bunch of others. I came into the office and sat in the conference room most of the time, mostly just to cut up with buddies who I haven't seen in a long time and talk shit about the presentations and presenters. They mixed in bullshit like virtual yoga and meditation, virtual guest speaker events, and of course tons of training. What sucks is that I remember being new here years ago and I actually got a lot out of kickoff. Not sure if it was just because I was new, or because it was all in person which forced us to actually close our computers and listen to what was being presented. But now, with this approach, sadly it was mostly a waste of time. Get this - they didn't even provide any free drugs. Had to bring my own and shit. Thanks Obama.

Anyone got any kickoff stories from this year, lets hear em.

Our in-person was cancelled two weeks out, and we went to all virtual.ย  ย It was blessedly short and the content was fine.ย  I got about what I expected out of it.ย  No complaints.

Ugh, just here to say that I miss an in-person SKO. Our last one before the pandemic one of my teammates bit my boss, another ended up bleeding and someone else almost drowned in their tub. What a great night.ย

dude that sounds terrible.....i seriously hope kicks offs come back.....one of the best perks about being in sales is you get to go on a trip in Feb. and get put up, free food and drinks, and you party with all the cool kids at watch the new SDRs get drunk and do stupid stuff.ย

How are we suppose to do that virtually??

I am not sure how an in-person one is because I am working WFH and it wasnโ€™t that great, lot of noise and people can talk a lot of bullshits

Ours was all virtual and it sucked. Itโ€™s way harder to pay attention, collaboration is at an all time low, and the content feels so forced.

Right?!ย  I (almost) feel bad but all those presentations that I'm sure took a long time to put together were completely lost on me.ย  And no one wants to ask questions via zoom, so it was all just a waste.

These are the sacrifices that we're making to company cultures by moving to all remote all the time.

....but I'm glad you get to wear your fucking sweatpants all day Susan!!

Never done an SKO. Hopefully will join a bigger company later this year and get to experience one next year. And hopefully it doesnโ€™t suck!

They can be a good time if you work with a good group of people!

My company doesnโ€™t have an SKO which is a beautiful thing. IDK SKOs weโ€™re always a let down for meย

Legit I've been with my company since December 2020. Every single event has been cancelled and virtual .ย

Feb 2020 they flew the whole team globally to Vancouver Canada and they all drunk drunk Olin the slopes for the week during training and sessions.

We get a week of recorded zoom sessions from the night before because we're APAC, but hey.. 150 usd voucher to useย  ย on food and beverage
