Anonymity

how important is anonymity on other platforms such as Twitter when sharing thoughts and opinions? I've used social media pretty much my whole life and have a bunch of friends on my timeline. but I do want to start getting more into money and sales side of Twitter and it seems like most of the people in that space stay anonymous. any particular reason why?

Careful what you say and you should be fine. Don't want anything to bite you in the ass.

As long as you're not an influencer, all is good.

i feel like in most cases anonymity can hurt your credibility. I wouldn't take money advice from some random account on twitter that is anonymous.

the WR is a LITTLE different. we are all kinda trusting that ppl that give advice know what we are talking about.

there was also a period where ppl had to be approved to get in, which made it seem more legit.

but there still is a level of blind trust that ppl that say they know what to do, are actually right

Too much of anonymity will give undue bullying power to folks. You can say whatever, and get away with it.
I donโ€™t think Iโ€™m pro-anonymous.

Yeah but let's face it, given how we have seen "Influencers" ruin LinkedIn, I kind of wish we had trolls to keep the crazy ones in line.

At the end of the day, I always ask why are you putting your opinion out there and who cares? Are you trying to grow your network? Influence? Make a brand?

If not, then what for?If you are highly opinionated and rely on other people's buy-in for success then be careful what you post as public opinion changes and the internet is forever.

My FB is locked down, IG is private and I'm a ghost on Twitter. I'm not afraid of being doxxed, as I'm not a troll or anything. I just don't need buyers or prospective employers looking me up and disagreeing with my personal views on something that is not related to my profession.

If you want to build your own brand you can be anonymous. I think the only people on twitter who are anonymous is the crypto crew?

Depends on what you are trying to do. If you actually care, then you want to be open about who you are.

People who are not anonymous end up having to be much more thoughtful about what they put out in the world. You'll have to be very careful about what you say, particularly when it involves someone else and/or a company, when they may have a very different POV. Releasing details about sales, your earnings/success, etc., publicly could be a big challenge.

Whatever is on the internet is public and will last forever. For most people, it's not worth the hassle and potential consequences.

anonymity is great in some instances. But it also results in a ton of shit posting and insulting like you see here or on reddit. I don't think we have a big insulting/bullying issue here, but definitely a lot of shitposting.

The answers depend upon your goals with each platform. You cannot build a personal brand with anonymity.

Social media can last a very long time. Your opinions might evolve and completely change from day to day as you personally evolve.

Very. I would never share certain opinions with my LinkedIn account, as much as I want to call out certain influencers on there for being fake idiots that scam people and put on a persona that they are actually not!
