Ive known a few people that work there. It sounds like success really depends on the team you land on, the product you sell, and your book of business. If you land in the right spot it can be a gravy train. If not youre kinda fucked.

You can find a ton of this on glassdoor and repvue, check those out as well.

And if youre really interested reach out to some AEs on linked in and see if you can get on a call.

I'm kidding I honestly don't know first hand. I've heard things like the territories are jacked and the internal obstacles are pretty damn severe. Again, I've never worked for them personally.

They make you sign an NDA before interviewing with them which I think says a lot lol

oddly enough, that's not super uncommon. At least in my industry. My current company is data protection/ransomware defense. I had to sign an NDA for my interview, and am technically under one for my offer letter as well, excluding relevant uses like applying for a mortgage or whatever of course.

In our case though I think its largely because of our product and because we're about to go public.

Interviewed with them recently and I didn't have to do this. Maybe for certain positions?

I don't work for Salesforce, but I work WITH their reps a lot, and I wouldn't recommend working there.  Their rep turnover is pretty damn high, and from what I can tell sales managers at SFDC are pretty overbearing.  Very cut throat company culture too.

There are ALWAYS multiple job openings in my area. That alone made me think it was pretty suspect.

They’re in here but probably won’t just come out and say it, I’m not one of them and I’m also not the biggest fan of working for huge companies.

Why? They usually have a lot more resources than smaller companies. There’s obviously a sweet spot between first employee and gigantic fortune 100 but yeaaaa I need a change so just trying to do my diligence.

With larger orgs you are just a number to them, rarely do they even consider change, good luck moving up that corporate ladder.

Quit there a couple months ago. It’s a great company if you want to take the next step in learning how to sell software to the enterprise. All of their products touch almost every department and customer touch points. You are more of a quarterback than a sales person because it takes a massive team to close big deals due to the complexities of the various products. It’s like an MBA for sales. With that said, I absolutely hated the anxiety and pressure to close business every single month even on quarterly / annual quotas. Very micromanaged and it’s like an FBI interrogation on all of your deals regardless if they are real or not. Territories are absolutely the main deciding factor in your success and you always get a shitty territory to start ( most companies are like this anyway). The issue is they have to hire so many people in order to hit their growth targets which means territories are tiny. There’s only so much juice for the squeeze so you may get lucky or be up shit’s creek. They say at SFDC it’s timing , territory and talent in that order and that couldn’t be more true. I’ve seen reps close a $1M deal 5 months in because it took 4 reps and 5 years to close it. I don’t regret my time there at all and it was a phenomenal learning experience but I will never be a boomerang employee. Too much stress and anxiety for me. Good luck.

This is such a great account thank you. Were you core or a specialty division like tableau or MuleSoft?

I was Core. The specialty roles can be good since they just come in like SME’s and help you close it. However I wouldn’t want to be on any specialty role outside of Tableau or Mulesoft. Core is where it’s at if you do go for the job. Typically Health Care and Financial Services are the top verticals to work for and some pockets of GEO .

Also .. it’s a great place to have on your resume. You can pretty much get a job anywhere after you work there and command a great OTE / stock package.

Yep, I work here. I agree with UrAssIsSaaS. Great culture and values. Great benefits, but if you are looking for pay only other companies that pay better. You wanna get in on the Slack, Tableau, or Datorama teams, big growth. If not those, commerce, marketing, or service cloud. Might be a gig when you are 45 have vertical knowledge and bunch of kids and don’t want to take the chance joining a unicorn.

Thanks ;) culture is important but pay is as well. I don’t need to make 900k to be happy, always will take it, but not at the expense of my health.

Do you feel the pressure mentioned by others to constantly close business or is it understood the sales cycle is long-ish?
DragonTiger

After 3 months the business wants you to have “participation”. That means that you either need to close pipe or generate pipe each quarter. It also depends on which segment you are in how much of a monthly pressure it is. If it is SMB you have monthly targets. In commercial and enterprise yearly, but if you only close one big deal end of year your manager gonna be stressed. When you have been around for a year or so then the expectation is to at least close 150k a quarter. Like I say to my team, you either generate, progress, or close pipe. If you don’t then what are you doing in a sales job? Compared to mongoDB or Appdynamics there is no pressure..

I've applied before, they're hiring process alone was enough of a nightmare to turn me off from it. They have so many job postings with different titles that all sound like the same thing. When I was looking for MM AE roles there were like 30 something to choose from all slightly different on their careers page. Made it seem like they are incredibly disorganized as a company to me.

If you have prospects saying yes and you are pulling your hair out just to get pricing straightened out internally - your company has a shit to market plan. Get the resume together and start looking for greener pastures. I'm all for making friends on the inside, hell I grease everyone from the secretary to the truck loaders with baked goods and lunch at every organization I'm in to make sure people go out of their way for me - but that's supposed to be for when things are a special circumstance - not for every deal I do.
