Most traumatizing deal of my short career. This sales cycle was a short POC turned into a long POC turned into a long sales cycle. The customer got a fcking bargain, all while leaving my company on the line to deliver a bunch of freebies in the name of "partnership." I'm in channel sales and let the partner lead negotiations, never doing that again.
Client is difficult, partner freaked out multiple times throughout the deal cycle. Partner went off the rails and tried going directly to CSuite members at my company to resolve stuff that did not need to get escalated to them.
Partner threw in one final meltdown at this deal by blowing up my phone at 5 PM Friday, then escalated to yet another Director(albeit, the wrong one, again) on my side after I told him it had to wait until after the holiday weekend.
The size of this deal tool is WAY too small for the time it cost me. It also means a lot more in terms of attainment/payout to the partner than me. I almost dropped it multiple times to throw a wrench in things out of spite.
Finally got there, but doesn't really feel like a win at this point
