Thankfully I had a strong champion who used our platform in the past but he had little to no decision-making power. Should have closed in May but the Operations Leader who I had sold moved on and left. Then the new one they hired after him used our competitor which I thought was awful news.
Ask him to what degree they had implemented our competitor at the last company (competitor has poor adoption rate) and he opened up. Said he only bought our competitor since he was friends with a former Director of Sales there but that Director of Sales had moved on and the platform was crap.
Okay great, now we have to walk him through yet another demo and then a follow up call on where we would save them. Told me that $40,000 was too high of a price for him and that the lowest he could do was $30,000. I told him $35,000 was the lowest we can do and he said then it looks like we are stuck.
Manager told me to give him an extra 1k off and he said he'll take it.
Not that proud of this deal but I hit my accelerator with it so that's nice.
