Butler Upvote

Back in January we suddenly lost the ability of seeing the names of users that upvote us. It was replaced with what I dubbed the "butler upvote" because the logo looks like a butler to me under notifications.


When is this going to be fixed?

Do you like seeing who upvotes you?

I think (but I could be wrong) they removed the ability to see the downvotes a while back, though I suspect they can see them as admins. I also recall something about how the downvotes don't actually remove your votes due to the swarming that was going on.

oh, the downvotes do remove points and votes. I logged on a few weeks ago and saw a big red -15 or something like that. I was like wtf..

Maybe that was a temporary thing a while back. There was some weird brigading going on, so downvotes didn’t affect total commission. I’m not a fan of it, because it would be too easy for a vindictive poster to go back through the boards and do some real damage.

I haven't been on in awhile, logged into day, and saw a big -15 and was like wtf?!

I can't speak to that - only that in the dim recesses of my memory from waaaay back maybe a year ago (?) there were issues with commission farmers downvoting like fiends in order to make the leaderboard - or something like that. And there was some cessation of that downvoting also eliminating earned commission. I'm not sure if I'm recalling the scenario correctly, but I do remember the official post that was meant to ease the rightful concerns of fair-minded posters who were getting downvoted just 'cause. Not sure if that's behind us or not. It's a question for @Gasty- who wasn't the moderator when this went down, but might have insight into downvotes + commission.

I can just tell you two things here:

1) there's no mass downvoter right now in the war room - we have strict systems in place to detect and flag this immediately

2) whatever downvotes occur, are done by everyday users of the war room
