Darktrace?

Hey everyone,

Has anyone ever worked for (or heard) about this company Darktrace? I was contacted by a recruiter for an account executive position recently so just wanted to tap the Bravado network for some words of the wise.

If you have any advice, suggestions, or thoughts about them (good and/or bad), please let me know. Thanks so much in advance.

These guys are ridiculous.  A recruiter reached out to me about a role there, but then backed out because I didn't attend a certain university.

They have a list of schools that if you didn't attend, you can't work there (at least without a referral). I went to a public university near where I lived, it's all I could afford at the time!

Why didn't they notice where your degree was from on LinkedIn? Cybersecurity yes. This bullshit? No.

I genuinely don't know. Luckily I wasn't far into the process. I had only had the initial conversation before they came back to me. I'm not saying the company is bullshit, I'm sure it's legit. I just think it's nonsense that they had a list of schools that you had to go to in order to work there. I couldn't afford to go anywhere out of state or far away.

In short, I'm sure the company is fine. I just hate their hiring rules.

I exited the application when I saw that they confirm college GPA. I've been out of college for sometime and I didn't get into sales because I was a scholar.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Do they pay more because of it? I had a good college GPA but can't imagine they're paying more for some shit I did 10+ years ago. Seems like a bunch of elitist assholes to me.

Supposedly a good product but there’s a heavy churn rate there

I used to work in cybersecurity. I've heard of these guys but honestly don't know much about them.

It's a decent industry. Pays well. Natural sense of urgency because of the potential negative impact. But, budgets are tight, and the biggest objection we would get is that if something bad did happen, nobody ever got fired for using a household name like mcafee.

My first job out of college was with Darktrace as an AE and I can pretty much confirm everything that was listed here. Yes, they do require that you attended a 'top university' whatever that means. And yes, they do check GPA. BUT, I know a few people who got around these two things because they did well in the interviews.

They expect A LOT from their AE's, but who doesn't. The base was pretty standard and the commission to start was alright. My biggest complaints were that the place was full of micromanagers and quota was TOUGH. There was maybe a handful of AE's that would hit it every month from each office.

I think the biggest thing is it depends which office you're in. I was in the Chicago office where we actually had a pretty good team dynamic. In the other, bigger, offices though, I heard it wasn't too pleasant. I left them over two years ago though so maybe things have changed!

No marketing, mayo isn't an MQL
Lotta money in Cyber. Know a few guys who work there, all seem happy and have been there for a number of years.

Don't know how strong they are in the US compared to EMEA where they have a pretty entrenched presence.

Can't say more really.

HAHA - I went through a full interview process with them before and almost proceeded with them.

Pulled the plug and said no after going through the pain of their process + felt that they are hiring for bunch of academics than sales savages

There was another recent post on Darktrace that got some negative hate.

I did not have a great experience with their recruiter, and the reviews I found were negative. Lots of overpromise, underdeliver across the sales job and the product itself.

Hopefully things have changed because security is a massive space with a lot of upside, but 2-3 years ago I was pretty turned off.

I had a friend who told me his brother was a sales engineer there in SF and they paid way below market and the team generated a ton of revenue but only got a $500 bonus or something super low like that.
