Equity Amount??

What is the typical equity amount you see being offered at a Series A company gearing up to get Series B?

Also - what are typical vesting periods? I haven't seen too many posts on this so sorry if it's a duplicate.

Typical does not apply to the world of equity. How big is their cap? How many outstanding shares are there today? What percentage of the business do the founders still hold? What was the Series A amount, and what is the current ARR?

Vesting is typically a 1-year cliff that vests out 25% and then the remaining 75% over 3-4 years.

Caffeine is correct. 4 year vesting with 1 year cliff is "typical" but there is no typical amount of equity.

This offer is .5% 3 year vesting with 1 year cliff. So, based off of everyone’s response this seems pretty fair.

I'm not sure there's a typical so to speak. Industry?

To echo poweredbycaffeine, 4 year vest with 1 year clliff is most common schedule.

As far as amount of equity there is no norm. If they're about to raise a series B you're an individual contributor on the sales team I wouldn't expect more than .25%, but there really is no normal amount

As you discuss potential equity you might be receiving make sure you ask about things like of the percentage of equity rather than number of shares, strike price vs current value, etc.

This offer was 3 year vest with 1 year cliff. It’s .5% so seems to be pretty good. Thanks for the info!

My vest is basically spread over 3 years at 33% a year. With $1 per share cashless buy in. So, if I have 100k shares and we sell for $10/share, I’ll net $900k

Depends, I wouldn't take anything less than 5k shares
