Gartner Conference worth 4K?

Just wanted to get feedback from people who use conferences as a way to get in the door.
just saw Gartner 'a CFO conference is at 4K price point. do you go to these ? do you send the reps to such things ? 

Wouod you ever pay for such things ? or is it always company sponsored at that price point ?

any insights will be helpful

Really depends on how good you are at working a conference. If you add up the cost to fly to 4-5 different meetings, $4k makes sense. And if you can more, the ROI just gets better. If you can’t, than it’s a waste of time and money.

If I go to conferences, it’s always company sponsored and paid for. They’re valuable if you do the legwork up front to set up the meetings you can, and know who else you’d like to track down. Find partners who are sponsoring events/dinners around the event, attend, and network the heck out of the time you have.

Based on my experience in cybersecurity Gartner puts on really good events. $4k is on the cheap side for them (most security are $30-40k).
However, that's too much moneys to pay for it yourself.

I think I’m reading your question differently than the rest of the field.

I look at it as if you’re asking; is there value simply in attending as opposed to being a sponsor?

This really means; will I book meetings that convert into sales just by networking?

I personally wouldn’t spend the 4K,(although everyone knows 4K AUD is like $600 in real money), I’d save the money and network in the lobby and nearby bars.

You could also see if any existing prospects are going and invite them to drinks or something in the periphery of the conference itself.

Yes, paying for individual to attend and if you are self-employed, is it worth the money , because mostly the pricing is set with corporate payers in mind (kinda)

For sure, thanks for the clarification.

A self employed person could probably justify the spend, but I wouldn’t personally do it unless conferences were a part of an existing sales/marketing strategy.

If your prospects at either exhibiting or attending in large numbers (north of 30 potential) then it’s worth it. If it’s only handful and you are worried you won’t meet with them, no way.
