I had a gentleman hang up on me after a cold call. I was coaching my team on the entire sales process on why to never skip the basics. After hanging up (twice) I continued to call the attorney and ask if everything was okay. That I wanted to genuinely help. He actually laughed out loud and said "{my name} I have to give it to you I cant believe you are still calling me back...what can I do for you not to call". I continued to explain in the least amount of words possible" well you said you were looking to grow, truthfully maybe we aren't the right fit however, you mentioned something to me that stuck out and while asking more questions about it you hung up. So, if you dont want me to call back again, I guess I am curious to why you got on our call in the first place and then why you hung up. He told me he got on the call for marketing but I was asking him questions when all he wanted was the cost. He hung up because I didn't give him a direct answer on price. After this explanation I said "Well, I am happy I got ahold of you. Would you be happy if I gave you that answer immediately now?" He said yes, I told him the cost and he said it was to expensive. I told him that made sense and yes it is expensive. He said "Well at least you know you are charging to much".. My reply ended this conversation...I replied "Well, understand that when prospects are serious (my label is that he is not serious) they want details, they appreciate discovery, we find problems, and then draw solutions. When we do this you can easily see why we are the best in the business and 80k looks closer to 8k. In business the only thing that matters is the game of net ..and so, if you're looking to lower your cost per acquisition costs, increase lead abundance, and reduce employee turnover, this cost becomes simple." He continued by asking questions on what I just said...things like " what do you mean reduce my acquisition cost"... I then let him know I ran out of time and needed to hop into another meeting and that if he wants I could squeeze him in for a more tactical and financially productive conversation in a few days. I did this so he respected my time and knowledge as a professional. We met 2 days later and closed the deal for right under 80k
