Never happened to me, but I did use to have prospect contacts ask what it's like to work for the company I was at.

I have had numerous customers joke about and then actually try to hire me. I would probably start with a casual conversation with the team that was my champion, HR isn't going to have the context about your experience that an insider up the ranks will.
I've had a million customers talk BS about hiring me but never actually followed through.
Do they have an open position that you want?
Wouldn't lie, this did cross my mind. One of my customers was looking for a part-time role in sales development function. What they were looking is just prospecting, I kind of got interested and intrigued.
