Got an AE interview

I got an AE interview tomorrow, and then another one next week. I'm really excited because this'll be the first time I'll be able to move to a full funnel/closing role. Got any advice or just words to hype me up?

Update: I got moved to the next round! the interviewer thought I did excellent and she said that I gave some awesome answers. I'm really excited that I'm hitting my stride.

My advice - have everything you need written out and available to you, just out of camera access.  Write out questions, have your resume, details on the company, etc.  Seems like too basic, but you'd be surprised how many people "wing it".

Great advice.  I do this all the time for demos, etc., with data points I want to be sure to mention.

since it’s a R1 this will most likely be more of a screening.

Be personable and not a damn robot.

Put effort in before the interview - research the damn company for 30mins. Check their socials/latest company news.

If you have statistics - just quick ones, ie. I booked 100 meetings last year that resulted in $X contract dollars.

Have a value prop prepared for what they sell. Pro tip: see what their current AEs are saying on LI to get this easily.

Use the Search Bar. Plenty of great posts that have questions already outlined.

Close the interview - “based on the conversation today, am I candidate you see as successful in this position”

Please take this advice - I just went through the full gauntlet with many different ideal SaaS companies and am looking at 4 offers for various AE roles.

If you don't already, have your questions written out. Ask about timing (when are they looking to fill position). Ask about the process and steps.
Be ready to tell a story of who you are and what you're about and have that show how you will be a great member of the team (align to their brand values if they have any).

Most importantly, in my opinion, be genuine and don't forget to close. Good luck!

DO NOT forget to close. Here's a simple line:

- "Based on everything we've talked about today, do you have any concerns about me being the best fit for you all?"

- If they don't lay out next steps, you engage and address it "What do typical next steps look like for us?"

- Have all your notes off screen, completely okay to reference them throughout the call. Show's your thorough, if it's a half decent company they'll already be looking for that in salespeople.

- Look them in the eye (or camera). Listen, don't interrupt. Ask a question then go on mute. Don't let your nerves make you jump the gun and interrupt.

- Bring. Good. Questions. How is the team performing? What are their goals for this year and next? How is the product differentiated from competitors? (you can already know the answer to this with some research on your own)

- Make sure your translating your value prop to their company, not just any AE saas role.

- Don't forget to close.

Go get 'em!

Ask day to day of other AEs, what are the number one studs strengths and then tie it back to past success, ask next steps which shows also you know who to somewhat wrap up and close a deal
