Hobbies? I’m confused…

I've heard this rumor that some people have hobbies that they actually, you know, do. Personally, it seems like I only have time for hobbies that I read about doing.
I ride motorcycles, but I sold my most recent bike 8 years ago, and now I just read motorcycle forums and search marketplace for the perfect bike.  I've narrowed it down to such a specific motorcycle, I'll probably need to build it myself.
I like to hike and get outdoors. the background on my laptop screen in a beautiful mountain photo that someone else took. I live in one of the prettiest places in the US, and my boots are covered in dust.
I like to shoot long range. Let me rephrase that - I read about developments in the sport, buy the gadgets, and put them in a safe. I have brand new parts, still in the packaging that I bought 5 years ago.
I have two really nice guitars hanging on my office wall. I play once a month at most.
Sound familiar to anyone else?

I don’t have a single, all-consuming hobby that I do to the exclusion of all else. I enjoy a number of things, and cycle through them. Part of that is because I had kids and had to put down the paint and pencil for a while, so jumped into things that don’t require a lot of set up and clean up. Right now, my hobby is watching my youngest in his final year of youth sports.

Ah, reading this made me overwhelmed. xD haha!
But yeah, I have never been able to figure out myself what my true hobbies are! So yeah.

I play a ton of tennis and try to run as much as possible. I will sign up for a 10 mile race every year so it will force me to work out.

Those will help me stay in shape and help me be outside for at least an hour a day

I always try to play golf but that’s more of an excuse to drink

You mean what games I play & shows I watch between work and family time? I play beer league softball and volleyball when I can but I couldn't say I have a traditional hobby, who has that kind of time? lol

I'm right there with you about shooting. Guns and gun parts are in my safe and rarely come out.

My real hobby tends to be getting outside and walking the dogs... But I've always enjoyed nature and hiking.

New house is across the street from a massive park with a 14km walking trail so looking forward to hitting that up.

Yeah I feel you. My past hobbies are now my collectors items—a display of my interests and personality I guess. I know what you mean. I bought a mtb like everyone during COVID and haven’t gone out in months. I have fishing poles that have lines expiring lol camping gear that I’ve never taken camping. I thought I was going to be mobbing deep on Fortnite for months but it last 1 haha. It just happens. We are salespeople and we love the chase. Haven’t found anything that gives me the same rush

Golf, but haven’t played much lately. Three kids and a bad back limits me.

Hobbies are a subtle conversation starter to see if you have anything in common.
