Had quite a few generic “Sorry, you weren’t successful” emails delivered at 1 am 3-4 months after applying this year

The biggest one was an in person interview for a very large global software company a few years back. Went to the office lobby as instructed 10 minutes before the time. Waited. Waited some more. Sent an email. Waited some more. Sent another email. After 75 minutes, I had to leave. The interviewer emails me the next day saying they had a meeting go over time (no apology) and asked if I wanted to reschedule. Since they’d demonstrated no respect for me as a candidate, I declined

Nothing really crazy, but I have been approached by a lot of spammy/scammy jobs/recruiters... Also, relax on the posting as much as you are, it will be seen as spammy. 5/6 posts from yesterday to today.

Nothing TOO crazy

1) I was told to sell them 'this pen'
2) Got drawn into one that ended up being a pitch/interview to sell CutCo knives

(looked for an image, and is this not the most ridiculous and bulky knife block you've ever seen!?)

I was in the final round and they needed to have a HR Recruiter join an interview since I skipped the initial stage.

Got asked a lot of questions about college when I was 3 years out. Asked a lot about leadership positions, GPA, volunteering in college, etc.

Those questions arent bad, but it was clear she interviews mostly students and was using a script

I’ve had recruiters reach out on LinkedIn and without stating it was my exact company and job it was clearly that.

When I inquire to confirm with my company name, “this position is no longer available” 🤡

Or I get ghosted

I had a recruiter the other day ask me to list all the products I’ve sold. I name all these software that clearly means nothing to her. So I dig a little further and she says

“Oh I just wanted to know if you’ve sold SaaS cause that’s what this company is looking for”

..huh??? 🙄

i got tricked into interviewing for one of those stupid MLM companies that try to tell you its a "sales and marketing" role.

I show up to a nice office building, go up to the office and there is NO furniture are all except 4 missmatching chairs in the lobby.

I was then introduced to this lady who would be my interviewer, she took me to lunch at Panera across the street.

the whole time she kept telling me about the "leader" and how amazing he was. how they are all a big family and spend so much time together, and go to his house for parties and that she has just grown so much as a person over the last 2 months working there.....

at the VERY end I finally got her to explain WHAT we sell.

they stand in wall mart and try to sell Direct TV to ppl.....
fuck that

I interviewed someone for a BDR role and we had a mock call. It was painful how bad it was. The candidate lost their spot on the script they were reading off of, got very flustered, stared at the camera smiling in pure silence, and then turned off the camera for 30 seconds and was still silent. Then turned it back on and continued like nothing happened. It was brutal.

Nothing hilarious as such but I was on a demo call once and this prospect kept asking what my role was blah blah and in the end he asked me if I was ready to join him 😂

I had to tell him we were on a recorded call and I am very happy at the moment. I

I should also say my company has been overhiring so I wasn’t directly at risk but still “do your research before LI spam” lol

Blow it up
I got recruited for a company, was told my experience was great but I was "not old enough" and that they would consider me in a few years. Not even a year later they tried to recruit me for an even more senior role...I told them I was already turned down for the more jr role and they still wanted to meet me. The interview went well but then told me "you're great for this role, you just need a little more gray hair".

Like dude, why are you wasting everyone's time?

Seriously, but I think they prefer a longer dry-aged cut.

How is it that one single sentence with only six words can make me laugh out loud? 🍽

Yes! I had an interview with a company that needed a logistics coordinator, I'm Latino and at that time I was still in Colombia, it was in English and I don't know why I got so nervous that I just got stuck, hahaha going back in my memory gives me laugh because I thought "if they hire me it's because they're so desperate, I didn't even understand myself haha" but it helped me to take the interviews more relaxed

Internal interview for a promotion. Flew half way across the country to interview at the corporate HQ. Interviewer (hiring manager) kept me waiting for 30 minutes while he talked on the phone (I could see into his office). When he finally ended his call, was clearly annoyed he had to do the interview. Would ask a question and as soon as I would start to answer, he would interrupt me and change the topic. He didn't offer me the position, but didn't offer it to anyone else either. Two months later he was fired.

Horrible: panel interview, members of the panel not aligned on anything, they kept interrupting each other, I could never fully answer a question, zero opportunity for follow-up questions or for me to ask them any questions. I bailed after that one...saw all I needed to see about how dysfunctional they operate.
