I've been in Sport Sales for 7 Years and Now Have Opportunity with Tech Company. Resume Help.

Like the title states, I have an opportunity to interview with a tech company that is going into series b funding. Also have a previous coworker employed there.

My main question is how should I tailor my resume? Is there a service that I can pay to adjust my resume to be more in tuned with a BDR role in tech? I have also not updated my resume in over 3 years (yes I'm an idiot)

I've sold for two major professional sports teams and am now in a VP sales role for a team in a pro level but very young league. This is based in the USA.

Any advice would be of help!

I would not take a BDR role after being in sales leadership. That may end up haunting you down the road.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Second this and all similar comments. No reason for you to take this kind of step back.

Don't do it. Look for other sales leadership roles.

Nothing less than an AE. You can tell us the VP isn’t that great, but you need to ride that into something other than BDR. Sales is sales. Brush up on the company, what they do, their target ICP, and leverage the heck out of your former coworker to get as much intel about the company and roles as you can.

VP of sales to BDR..?

That's quite the title backtrack.

The thing is although I have a title as VP, the pay is not that great and I'm not that thrilled in working for this company currently. I have insurance but no other benefits.

I haven't heard the numbers yet from this startup but I'd be curious to see their pay and benefits. Still feel like its worth hearing them out.

I do agree though that it would be somewhat of a backtrack.

Somewhat? You'd be starting over.

Look for a role at MINIMUM at the AE level, if not a leadership position. Hard to see how a BDR role would be a favorable change.

I'll take a different approach to the other comments.  Moving to a BDR role would definitely be a step backward from a title standpoint, but if you have sales experience, then I would definitely push for an AE role.

I currently work in the sports tech industry and it is a GRIND.  I'm happy to take a look at your resume and give you some pointers to fine-tune it to match what companies in this field are looking for.
