Mental Exhaustion During Cold Streak

Savages,

I have been going through my first cold streak over the past month or so. Still closing SOME deals, but nowhere near what I have been this year. I feel like I am getting huge buy in on demos, but losing momentum/interest post-demo. What are you all doing during cold streaks to keep the positivity and eliminate the burn out feeling?

To help with positivity and burn out, I try to take more breaks within a day. Go for walks, grab a coffee at a place you really like, or something a long those lines of doing something away from technology.

I always feel like if I only try to push through and make more calls to break the cold streak I burn out after a week if I dont see any major results.

Its always important to have balance

I have such a hard time taking a step back, one of my biggest detriments. Hoping that getting a dog in January will help me to escape more for walks

That was going to be a point I wanted to make - it's great if you have small and large things to look forward to. For example, a weekend getaway coming up in the next few weeks (small thing) and a trip to Europe in the summer (big thing).

A dog sounds like a combo of both, and definitely something to look forward to.

On the work front, slow/stuck times are when I do a lot of the things I hadn't gotten to - read up on industry intel, real pipeline scrub, get the account planning updated, make sure to do your outreach even if you're not feeling it. Check off those boxes so you have at least a small sense of accomplishment.

Finally, realize that this is a temporary slump; sales is cyclical. It will change! Be ready.

I plan to make a "small wins" section on my whiteboard, so hoping this will help with the mental grind

That's a great idea! It will be a good reminder of things that are working. It's so easy to get stuck in all the negative and forget that there are small steps to celebrate as well.

Hopefully will be able to report in a week or so that it was helpful

first you HAVE to accept that this will happen.

slaes is always up and down. so try not to beat your self up. thats step one.

then go back to the basics and see if you are skipping something critical.

When ppl tell me they are getting ghosted after demos, i always go back to discovery.
Do THEY believe they have a problem that is worth fixing?
Did you align what you do to the problem well enough?
Did you close the meeting well enough so there are established next steps?

Great advice, tough pill to swallow though...

for sure. we all want to think we have everything under our control, when we dont.

mentally, try to focus on the smaller wins to get you through. if you arnt closing the deals you need, still celebrate the discovery calls that are booked, the calls that go REALLY well, the verbal yes you get. still celebrate those things.

Nothing harder than celebrating small wins because all you ever want to do is celebrate REAL wins. That being said, I plan on doing just that now

Buddy said this to me and it stuck. Sales is a treadmill on sprint. You can't keep it up constantly you need to get off and recharge to get back on. Whether its a vacation or just some time away from your computer it makes a huge difference. Also get back to your basics when it comes to selling. Sometimes success takes us away from routine when routine is what brought you success
