If I make more than this and they dont align with the top 5 i am confident ill fail but curious to hear what others have to say about this and how confident they are that this time next year they can come back and say they actually achieved what they said.

Start small, then go big

What's the likelihood you accomplish your NY resolutions?

so im one of those people thats against the whole new years resolutions or even "goals".

for me ive found it much more successful to think of new habits I want to incorporate into my life.

This is how my brain works. I don't "plan to start" on Jan 1st, I check things monthly and quarterly and reflect from there.

I can never come up with good goals under pressure (eg by 12/31) and so they're never meaningful or impactful and as a result, they're forgotten.

I quit making resolutions a long time ago. I will set goals, but I don't tie them to January 1.

They don’t really work imho. If you want to make a change, you’d implement it when necessary and not at an arbitrary date

I like to focus on one new thing at a time apart from what I’m doing. A list never worked for me personally.

My thought is that NY resolutions can be good. I feel the most effective changes are gradual and supported by discipline and routine.

Example: If you want to spend less on eating out, don't go cold turkey. Start making incrementally more meals to reinforce the eventual habit. Falls in line with SMART goals.

Even if you don't get all the way to the goal, you're likely in a better position than when you started.

To be honest there are goals I set out for myself this year that I didn’t hit that I’ll adjust for next year. I’m optimistic about hitting my goals but knowing I’ll have quite a few that are ambitious, they’re a stretch to hit but a good target for me personally

Not planning much, just wishing a happy new year for me and my family and all people with no catastrophic global events:)
