No Team Meetings or 1:1 in Remote Role

A re-org just happened and there isnt any team meeting or 1:1s. I am doing well and very confident I am going to continue to make good money, but feel weird about this.

Also, I am the only person on the team in my state and fully remote.

Is this something I should just be happy about since I dont have as many team meetings and get to focus on my deals or in the end will this type of meeting frequency hurt my career being remote.

That seems REALLY strange to me.. Like there should be something on the books. My company is fully remote - we do weekly sales/pipeline meetings, and then ad hoc meetings as needed.

I feel like you run the risk of being forgotten, or at least passed over...

All reps are in the same boat, pretty much need to send a message to schedule an ad hoc meeting

The thing is the freedom is super nice and I am doing well in the role. Itโ€™s more losing out if I want to get promoted or moved to enterprise

If you want to have a 1 on 1 with your manny then schedule it. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I like my 1:1 schedule with my manager, so if you don't have one, I'd get it on the calendar.

This is where you can force your own 1:1 with your manager. Always stay in communication and have it on your calendar. this just seems too strange.

That does seem odd, even for a remote role. I have always been remote and while 1-1's and Team Meetings haven't always been consistent, they still happen. They help you to not feel like an island and to help you be visible in your org.

Currently in a Pre-re-org situation myself. My manny is wearing a VP of sales hat (VP resigned recently) on top of temporarily overseeing growth org as a whole- account management revops marketing etc. (c-suite has been ill). I live what your talking about cause, manny has NO timeโ€ฆ nothing constructive I can provide cause im figuring it out, your not aloneโ€ฆ.. I am frustrated with it- zero support- holding myself accountable is painful cause Iโ€™m on an island.- Iโ€™m just white knuckling but wouldnโ€™t turn down a new opportunity.

It thatโ€™s a policy for people that are remote, it feels like to me that youโ€™re being left on the side and that it is an intentional strategy to kill remote work. I donโ€™t understand the benefit of killing team meeting and 1:1s

Sounds like trouble, as in there is no communication or team improvement striving to be made.
Depending on how you like to live your day-to-day, this is either great or frustrating.
In the long run I want to be somewhere with coaching and continual support to help me improve.

You want one schedule one. However, I would just be happy with all the fluff being gone

I would ask to have weekly communication with your manager to keep them up to date with what you are doing.

I got blindsided by a company that did the same thing and let me go as I was the only one not close to the office as an AE.

Thanks for the help, have ad hoc stuff with my manager. I try to come up with a question to chat at least once week but nothing formal set up

SDR Mgr
Perhaps your Mgr is just riding the team's coattails (success) and doesn't want to work/can't add value/looking for another job.
If you're doing well and happy, I would try and engage other members that work remotely in states other than your offices and/or engage other members of mgmt in a casual/sincere way to stay on the radar and liked.
Good luck!

I guess it matters what you're looking for in a job.

If you're basically just there for money and confident you can earn minimal support, then maybe you don't need a recurring 1:1. You can always reach out if/when needed - likely OK to say.

If you want to personally grow into a better performer, then 1:1s with a good manager can be a form of 'mentorship'. You could schedule them yourself, but your manager not taking the initiatve to do so is likely a signal they don't want to spend time 'investing' in you becoming better at what you do - likely time to go.
