Sales Rep
Any new job, need to go on RepVue, Glassdoor, and if you see an issue bring up Red Flags when you get the offer and are negotiating.

Always back channel to current reps/old ones to see what it is really like.

If you are shadowing a rep during the interview process ask them to share the screen with the teams KPIs and quota.

I donโ€™t think series A = toxic

Companies of any age and any stage can be toxic. I agree with the rest though

- High turnover, especially lots of tenured people that used to be company advocates leaving in a short period of time
- Low quota attainment, with any suggestion of adjustment dismissed
- KPI and metric focus, especially if these canโ€™t be justified and were pulled from thin air
- Micromanagement, particularly if itโ€™s across the board even for high-performing reps
- High existing customer churn and/or low new customer acquisition
- Refusal to learn from mistakes and insistence that reps try things that already havenโ€™t worked
- Weak sales tech stack and reluctance to invest in tools that will improve performance (this is becoming more common as purse strings tighten now)
- Only holding the individual reps accountable for results
- Dismissal of feedback and refusal to change or improve

red flags:

1. use the word "family" in the job description
2. require everyone to be in office
3. there are more than 2 weekly team meetings
4. They are too metric focused.
5. Attendance at Company outings is "strongly suggested"

Don't expect to be treated better as an employee than you are treated as a candidate/applicant. If the communication and follow-up during the interview process is poor, it will be worse once you're hired. If the process is long and drawn out, that reflects are long it takes them to make decisions. Unfortunately, most job seekers overlook red flags in the interview process because they are so focused on winning the offer.

Turnover is the best indicator of a company's culture.
