Deal Story

ppg closed a home owner for $15k to the Renovation department

The funny part of this story is selling 5K worth of Windows (which I sell), but 10K worth of renovations work for our independent contractor and only getting commissions on the 5K not the whole 15K...

The client negotiated the price of the renovations with me, even if I have nothing to do with it, so I negotiated on behalf of our Contractor and got MORE than he originally wanted. He never even mentioned the windows I sell him, at 40% margins!!! GONG!!!

How's that for doing the right thing for someone else. I think he owes me a favor now... what do you think?

Better than that, once I tell him the client accepts for 10K, he said this: ''I left a bit of buffer as I knew he'd want to negotiate, I can go down to 9.5K...'' AFTER I tell him the client accepted for 10K...

Yeah man,

I am loosing deals because my lead time is now 20 weeks for certain lines of products...ย  They tell me they are looking around to know if they can get it faster somewhere else.ย  What they don't understand is that the longer they wait, the longer the lead time is going to be.

People think backwards sometimes...ย  ๐Ÿคฆย  ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

What kind of products do you use? Also are you strictly windows or are you in other exterior remodels?

I am a Marvin Windows and Doors rep in Canada, so I do Windows/Doors and interior doors only.

How about you?

Nice. Iโ€™m in the Chicago market - James Hardie Siding and Andersen windows mostly; occasionally a smaller brand named Kolbe and doors from Amish folk, Provia. Those Amish made doors are closer to that 20 week youโ€™re talking aboutย

If you want to, I get can you in touch with a guy from TruStile, they have 8-10 weeks turn around now, and they make BEAUTIFUL doors. Fire rated too.

If interested, I can drop my contact info and erase it quickly after you take it down.ย  Let me know.

Thatโ€™s awesome to offer but weโ€™re committed to these Provia guys. Quicker wouldnโ€™t matter much with the labor shortage. We have a dedicated window/door team, but our lead time is out a ways as it is and trying to find good craftsmen seems impossible these days.ย

First clients to spend the 10K, then another for 11K the week after. They are all a lot of work as well as plenty of back and forth. The nice thing about it though, once it is sold and delivered, itโ€™...

Great deal overall; the owner was looking for a service that could offer a full integration with his 401K broker. When I confirmed that we could indeed offer such an integration (amongst other core fea...
