Sales job for seniors

My fellow savages I could use some advice. I've got a friend, He's hilarious and sharp as a tack. A well of amazing advice and has some of the strongest sales acumen I have ever come across. The problem is he's 77 and literally no one will even consider him for a role.

Like I said, his mind is perfect and it's a waste that he cannot find work. Any advice out there for an industry that would give him a chance?

I was thinking something mostly commission like hot tub sales. But he lives in statin island and the few sellers aren't hiring.

I know this is a long shot but any advise out there?

Gosh, I really don't have any insight here without some more context. You say he has strong sales acumen, has he worked in a sales role before?

Did a quick google search and it said Wholesale or Manufacturing are the top industries for sales for 65+ individuals.

But I would say use their network, if they worked somewhere for 20+ years and knows someone who is still there. I am sure that would be the easiest/quickest.

At my local hardware store, there are any number of seniors working there in many roles - it's retail, but very consultative for projects. The experience they bring is highly valued.

So - not sure why his age and experience would preclude him from finding a role that would view his age/experience as a benefit.

Reminds me of "The Intern" movie.
I think you can do a google search on what industries prefer hiring seniors.
Also, if they have sales acumen / experience, it shouldn't be that difficult.

yeah this is going to be hard for sure haha.

I would try to nail down where his expertise is.

what is it that he knows more about than anyone else. Is there a way to leverage that into a sales role?

I'd assume almost any software company out there he would be an immediate no simply because a sales manager usually (34-40) would feel intimidated by the age gap. He could be great in a solar sales role where the leads are provided and he is responsible for closing.

Good luck. Even though he could claim age discrimination it's going to be a long shot for him. He could try to find a consulting gig, not sure if that's in the cards.

Virtual Sales Assistant would be the best option I would imagine!!
