We all know the saying: if you hit quota you can get away with murder….

but have you actually murdered someone yet?

how far do you push the boundaries when you're ahead of quota? afaik one of the best things about sales is the flexibility that comes with performance-but not all corporate cultures are created equally....

what sort of rules do you start ignoring once you're performing above quota?

things like coming in when you want instead of when you have to, working from abroad remotely, seshing every day of the week etc-comment below so I can have some ideas 😈

To qualify what I consider “untouchable”: 150%+ attainment on a consistent basis. If you are a shithead at 102% you are still a liability that I will fire for bringing down morale by doing stupid shit.

yea, barely above 100%, and asking for special treatment does not work out, I've seen inconsistent AEs get lucky once and fall into crumbles soon after. If you happen to be 200% you are allowed to make a mega fuck up and hear management say: it's all good, I love still love you

I had a friend who was consistently crushing quota. 200%. Far in front of everyone else in the team etc. he got away with everything. He’d buy gift cards for clients and keep them. Expense everything imaginable. Clothing, partial vacations etc.

He was also doing drugs in the office, got caught a few times. Wouldn’t show up to stuff etc.

He was totally safe until he missed quits 2 months in a row. Immediately fired for cause. It was a bad situation for all involved.

Yeah, it's just bad practice to provide a reason for people to fire you.  Because they will.

Yeah, sounds like the employer was waiting for that one. Or the company is just that cut throat.

They needed to get rid of him because he was in a downward cycle and they didn’t want to take any responsibility so the first chance they had, boom gone.

If I'm at 120% and still have a fat pipeline I'll take a week or so off. When I do come in I don't bother doing much cold calling and spend my prospecting time with target accounts and milking my big clients for referrals. I might take a slightly longer lunch.

Truth be told, now that I'm working 100% remotely, even when hitting over quota, I'm still a pretty good noodle. When I worked in an office surrounded by coworkers, every time I was over quota, I spend most of my days playing foosball, playing slam ball, going across town for lunch with other AEs that were over quota, bullshitting with coworkers instead of working.

I'm more productive working from home because otherwise, I get bored.

I hit my quota first month of the quarter. I am on pace to be 2.5-3x it (not sure I could ever recreate this but loving every minute of it). This last month of the quarter I've basically been working half days. Instead of gym in the morning's and boxing in the evenings I now go to the gym in the am then boxing at noon. I'm basically off Friday's excluding what little comes in to me. My boss knows and just doesn't care. about 2 weeks before the new quarter starts I'll be back to full time to make sure my pipeline is nice and bolstered. but for now I'm just enjoying the fruits of my labor.

I should add, this is because at the start of the quarter I was putting in 10-12 hour days 5 days a week plus half day's on Saturdays to have so much lined up in place. This is generally how I've always worked. Kill it in the first half, chill in the 2nd half. The amount of chill just changes based on where I'm at on my number.

Sometimes you can take your foot off the gas a bit but honestly in the long run if you consistently do then you'll hurt yourself more than anyone.

People overlook your OOO calendar blocks when you're WELL above quota.  I start taking vacations, blocking my calendar, leaving the country...basically doing whatever you want.  You're untouchable at that point :D!
