I know most of you have your conversations recorded and reviewed all the time but I do in-home sales. My company decided to hire a virtual ride-along company and long story short, have opted to take the easiest path legally possible with informed consent. If it is a one party state, they don't even bother telling them, two party states, the homeowner checks the privacy box - most likely without reading - to progress to the appointment making screen, "well, you gave permission when you signed up for the appointment."

I am older and feel strongly there is a traditional expectation of privacy when you enter someone's home making this method of invasive "babysitting" a non negotiable for me. However, upon concocting ways to inform homeowners without immediately infuriating them, I decided the overwhelming stress I was experiencing wasn't worth it and drew my line in the sand.

I kept my job and am not using the software but there are many who feel the same way who don't produce my numbers that are stuck in the ethical muddy waters.

I know the world is moving fast but I sell in a very personal way and the things people tell me shouldn't be recorded and blasted through conference rooms during trainings. I cringe when they share these interactions in meetings because it is VERY clear people do not know they are being recorded.

On a more selfish note, they don't pay me to train incoming staff, why should I allow my conversations and selling style to be giving away for free?
