Should I just walk away?

For those that have not been following my posts,

I have been working in a toxic messed up start up for about 6 months now.

I have been looking and received advice from many that I should work here till the next thing comes. Paid job search...

I have felt gross by it but with a young family I cant just take off forever...

I have not been terribly productive.

Mostly not trying hard to find business as much as I am trying to find another job. A good amount to the market and industry is just rough.

The company is effectively down to two salespeople and both of us are struggling.

The company as a whole (because we also have renewal work to keep us a float some) has been doing awful..but not quite dropping out of the sky yet.

Without getting into it and spending to much time trying to explain, should I quit before they fire me? They will likely claim performance and budget.

I do have a couple of interview processes in place, and can pick up some DD or something if needed as well.

Should I quit before they fire me?

Just start your job search but don't quit.
If they fired you and you don't have something else lined up then you can collect unemployment. If you quit that life line is gone.

Got it, I just know my salary isn't cheap and it feels funny "trying" to get deals when I am really Shawshank redemption style trying to make my way out.

Never quit unless you're moving to something new. You have a family, you need to take care of yourself.

If you do get let go, you can collect benefits.

Keep on hunting, and doing a little at the current gig. Sounds like they're on their way down anyways.

Never leave before you have something else lined up.
And absolve yourself of any guilt - it's a mess there. Do the minimum, but work on that job search. Best of luck.

RULE #1:When you can help it, NEVER EVER EVER EVER leave a job until you have a new one.

Start getting good at lying about client calls and site visits and be doing resume work and interviews on the current company's dime (anyone that gives a shit is an executive, narc or has equity/trust fund and they ain't us or anywhere near your position)(no offense to any real people that have equity or failed up to executive roles from your feet not your name). You work for your family and they need you to be employed, even if a bit miserable FOR THE MOMENT.

Keep grinding through options and networking and look towards the light of a new opportunity and find the greener pasture. YOU CAN DO IT. I'VE DONE IT, and I'm not talking bullshit look at this skyscraper yacht spaceship I built from grinding and saving my Starbucks spending, but really, I worked a shit job long enough to find the good one and life is better...still sales/quota/and stress but I HATE WORK A LITTLE LESS and that is all you can aim for with each step.

Unless you got an NBA talent hidden, nobody loves what they do and it doesn't feel like work, but you can not HATE what you do and make enough money and foundation to do what you love when you clock out.

Definitely dont quit.. Paid job search is great, being actively employed while interviewing is even better. Also, if you quit you can't file for unemployment

I've quit without other offers. It's not fun. Don't recommend until you know the next thing is lined up.

Like many others have mentioned, I would never ever quit a job unless I have something else lined up, especially if you have a family to take care of as well.

Actively start searching for a new job while you "hang in there", and when you have something else in hand that is a better fit, then you can resign.Just my advice.
