What was your first "I have money now" purchase

When I got in to sales it was the first time in my life I had disposable income. Before that I was living paycheck to paycheck and could never afford to get anything extra if it was not budgeted for months in advance.

My first commision check came just in time for my sons second bithday. I was going to book him a party at a bounce house place but that seemed like a waste of money given it would be like $275 for a two hour party.

So instead I bought him an entire bounce house for him to keep.

In all seriousness this profession has changed my life and I am forever grateful for the opportunities I have been given and the people who God, nature, or the space aliens have placed in my path to mentor and develop me.

What "stupid" purchases did you all make when you first realized you had money to spend?

Kind of embarrassing but when I first got a job on salary I thought I was balling (48k yr lol). So I take my brother, his gf, and there two of her friends out to dinner. I pay for the bill and refuse their $ because “I’m on salary” and thought I was a big shot. It wasn’t that expensive but kinda cringe that I did that.

A decent, but not crazy by any means, watch
All grey-black metal Seiko automatic. Finagled a good deal on it, but it was $650ish 10 years ago.
Loved that thing. Great quality and looked awesome.

A new car. Up until a couple years ago, I drove extremely used vehicles (150k+ miles), and finally bought a brand new car when I started getting solid commission checks. Feels great to not have to worry about if something is going to break.

I also buy a lot of random hobby related stuff, which is not financially responsible, but makes the happy chemical in my brain pop off so thats neat.

Fancy standing desk. There are other things I can point to but that does somewhat standout for me, not just because it was a splurge but because it was also an investment in my setup for my sales career.
