GK: Sorry, he's not in today.
Me: No worries, when is he expected to be back?
GK: He passed away a few months ago.
I was just like BRUH, why the hell didn't you say that he died in the first place instead of saying "not in today." So awkward.

I think they didn't pass away they just told you that so you would never go there again...my dad sometimes does this with real estate brokers...he pretends to be someone else on the phone and like yeaah they passed away.
