100% commission to base+commission ?

As the title suggests how did y'all handle the transition from 100% commission to base + commission?

As I feel when you have to rely 100% on your efforts to make 100% of your income it's a lot easier to stay motivated/discipled to hit your goals.

I've recently done a salary position and I felt unmotivated and bored af thank God it was a short contract but damn...how did y'all adjust?

Never been there myself, but here's my perspective on salary:

My salary isn't high. It's enough to pay the bills and have a lil money leftover. Commission is where the fun and investment money comes from. If I was to coast on salary, I'd be living a very average life and would need to sacrifice many things I enjoy having. Why would I want to do that? I'm in sales because the earning potential is super high. If I didn't care about commission, I'd go earn a higher salary being an Account Manager or Marketing drone.

I don't feel disincentivized by having a salary at all. I'm happy that if I have a bad month, I can still pay rent and my bills and not starve without having to draw from my savings. That's all salary means to me.

Exactly this.   All my fun comes from the commission, without the stress of having to manage a missed month.

And I like to have fun, so I'm incentivized.

I’ve never been 100% commission, but I’d imagine the security of a regular paycheck is going to be wonderful.

Never 100% commission, if I wanted that I'd go sell cars. Need to eat while i'm making stuff happen

I agree with you, more likely I would be unmotivated too, you had -just like you did- to push yourself till getting back to the full 100% commission scheme once the contract was over and that's most probably what I would have done if I were you and had no other choice but to wait.

I couldn’t imagine being 100% commish. Gotta have that salary safety net IMO.

It's not so bad. I prefer it, honestly. But it does suck in the first few years.

My salary basically only pays my bills. If I want to eat, go on vacations, buy my girl a valentines gift, whatever random bs that isn’t just surviving, gotta get that comish
