Bad to not attend company town hall?

Maybe its due to how long I've been with my current company, but I've started to attend our company town hall each week less and less, due to what I feel like are things & topics being discussed that aren't necessarily important to the business.

I still attend to get an update on revenue/product & engineering updates, but otherwise feel like our town halls are getting vanilla. Is it bad to skip company town halls?

Do you attend your weekly company town halls?

A town hall quarterly? Absolutely. Weekly feels like overkill ๐Ÿค”

We have 'em monthly. I attend 'em alternate months. Especially in those months where I've put an excellent anonymous suggestion which would be read out loud. ^_^

Haven't heard of one weekly, but I think this is something you just kinda have to do..

Disengage and do something else if you want but show up.

I assume this is virtual, you can always join so it says you are on the meeting and mute the call. This help in case your boss will checks to see if you are on

Unless you have a customer event, my feeling is you should attend.

Totally agree and not the best use of time for everyone in the company tbh.

Weekly is a lot, but if you're remote, join anyway, let it run in the background, and take care of other things.

You have a town hall every week!? What in the world do they have to talk about every week? Iโ€™m used to one maybe every 6 months and even those werenโ€™t very useful.

Haha that's a great question, I have no idea what they want to discuss every week that's meaningful to the business in all honesty.

Definitely not something you ever WANT to attend, but in my experience being in attendance helps a ton with the corporate political game

Typically I'll join to see the agenda, from there stay for the revenue updates and anything from eng/product

Have to go to play ball with the management team, but usually you can just use that time to do admin work on the side to stay productive if it's not relevant to you
