Best SKO event you've participated in?

I'm in the process of helping plan our SKO, and I got asked what a fun (semi-productive/useful) SKO event would be. Ideally, this event would be:

  • something that gets everybody interacting
  • semi-work related (i.e. strengths finder workshop, improv group comes to lead an objection handling session, etc.)
  • something people actually want to do

I don't want this to be lame, so any and all advice would be appreciated!

My old manager took us to Disneyland for the day, gave us carte blanche to gear the eff up at gift shops, stuffed us to the gills with food, ran around both parks with like 25 looney toons children, then took us to the bougiest steak house in Santa Monica and we spent like five grand on food and bevs...i was still shitfaced the next day during QBRs, so much so that i snuck out to the bathroom, puked for like 3 straight minutes, cleaned up, then went back to the conference and did my sales prezzy like a champ

Idk, all the SKOs I’ve ever been too have been like three days of 8-5 training followed by massive parties and rented out clubs each night. If you dangle an open bar over most reps heads, they will do whatever you want for a few hours.

The best SKO I ever went to was in Denmark and we basically all just drank heavily every night. During the day we had some "workshops" but primarily consisted of chatting with colleagues who were also fairly hungover...

Was a perk that the trip was paid for by the company and was a week long.

Our last SKO was in Barcelona & it was probably the best one yet. Even the company organized stuff was pretty cool. For example, we did a scavenger hunt around the city organized by some company. They picked the teams & placed us with people we don't get to see or interact with on a day to day. & then of course the events after workshops were over were even better

Go easy on the ice-breaker and strength finder stuff, that's always the part of SKO I hate the most

The best SKOs are ones that have non-work related activities. SKOs jam pack so much company information and strategy into such little time so focusing events away from the company are always a great break. We did a few cool small events like branding leather bag tags, rolling our own cigars, and yacht cruise. They were little things but were different than the norm!

I think anything that makes ppl feel seen and taken care of goes far.  Good food and beverages are a must.
