Bold, italics, underline, caps lock?

I'm creating some cadences for a client who seems hell bent on using these formats for emphasis. I could maybe go for very occasional bold or italics, but hate underlined text (looks like a link) and caps lock (looks like yelling).

I don't write like that in emails to people I know, so it always looks like spam to me.

Am I wrong here? Have you savages had luck with stuff like this?

If they want it done their way, why don't they do it themselves?

Maybe I'm missing something but if they're hiring you as the expert, they should be listening to your recommendations.

Could you give two options...One to their preference and one on your recommendation backed up by social proof/data/etc?

My thoughts exactly.

After a little more digging, i think the problem is that one of the sales leaders gives way much control to this weasel of a VA, and that guy is trying to horn in on my work.

I’m having a hard time finding studies about this stuff because it’s so obvious. I’ve worked with dozens of sales teams and have never seen anything like it.

I’d try and pull any “before/after” copy you have from previous clients (without getting in trouble obviously).

Last thing you want to do is spin wheels and do good work to be told “yeah we’re not doing that”.

Keep us posted!

Is the pay good? If they're unwilling to give you creative freedom, it might be time to fire them as a client!

Love firing clients.

Double your price. If you lose half your clients, you just freed up 50% more time.

The only time I use Caps lock is to emphasize “NO” or “NOT” so there is no confusion. And only then to someone who I think might not get it if I don’t.

I don’t have an issue with the occasional bold to emphasize. In fact that can be helpful. I view underlines as a call to action.

I had an old manger do this. Different fonts, colors, and size for the text.
This would just be for internal emails too

Slapping around a bunch of different formatting can quickly make copy look like a ransom letter.

Give them the confidence that the emphasis is coming from your argument or language you are using, not the format.
