Closed a 10 year deal

whats up yall. This morning got a great news that my client signed a 10 year deal. It took about 9months to close but I finally did. I am happy to say the least as its a 100k+ per year deal. But I dont get paid anything until the client is invoiced and pays each year.

My company kinda didnt congratulate me, I just got some yays but no announcements ( Its the companies first 10 year deal) and nor do I get paid anything for now. What do you guys think?

Does your company pay commisions only on invoices paid?

I get paid the first month's total and then a percentage monthly for the full term. This is BS to me and I am upset for you. CONGRATS ON THE DEAL!

Congratulations on the deal!

We do get paid the month after invoice, BUT I get paid on ARR + a bump for multi-year, so I am not waiting every year for $$.

I didn't have to used to wait for the invoice...but in this model (smaller company) I am also not facing clawbacks if a customer ends up terminating or not paying.

But yes, it is nice. I've not seen your model before.

we get paid the month following receiving a PO. so say I get a PO for a deal today, I would get paid for that on the last day of November.

Blow it up
We're paid the month after the product ships.

Collecting payments should not be a factor in you getting paid, that's what AR staff and credit insurance is for.

That’s awesome, it’s okay if your company didn’t congratulate you but I would - Congrats.

The same thing for us- we only get paid for future deals if they are paid upfront within the decided payment term.

I used to work for a company that paid out on the first month's billing, and then back paid at the sixth month's billing. I do not work for that company anymore and the CRO was recently fired.

Big time win, so let me be one of the first to congratulate you. I agree that you should be paid on the sales you generate each month.

I'd get whatever you can right now. Call it a "time value of money discount" and say that you'll take 70% of the commission.

I don't know many people that are staying in jobs for 10 years anymore, and 70 cents today is better than $1 tomorrow which never happens.

I get paid 9% of the TCV (10% commission-1% for the lumpsum payment) which can mean some FREAKING HUGE checks if you play it right.

That's the way it should work.

I get paid the month after my organization is paid. It is not very transparent, and I was the first real salesperson they have had in their 25 years. It is a sysphian task to explain that most people won't accept the commission structure we have.

We get paid on invoices issued. After that if the client doesn't pay, he goes into collection and that's far from my problem at this point

This deal took me a few months to build rapport and successfully deliver a few prior orders. This resulted in the biggest deal of my carrier and one of the biggest in the company's history. Great win!
