Do you work remotely or at the office? Would you quit your job if you had to go to the office full time? I’d quit immediately. Well as soon as I found another job 😂. Currently, I’m working from home I go to the office once in a while. I can work from any country. I went to the beach for 3 weeks and just took two days off to recover from a festival.

you are doing the WFH the right way!

If I was told I HAD to work in an office....it would depend on how far away the office is haha.

I work from home full time and dont have an office to go to. Sometimes I wish I did.

but there is zero chance I would drive into the city everyday ever again.

Totally agree. I love going to the office once in a while and going to events with colleagues. But I’m waaay more productive at home. I always loved working where it’s quiet.

I go to the office to socialise 😂

Full time remote, in once a month.

A big factor in departing my last company involved unreasonable RTO, among other things.

You're definitely doing it right though!

Love it!! Can you work from any part of the world?

Out of curiosity, what were the other reasons you decided to leave?

Haven’t explored the anywhere in the world part yet…

The other main reason I left was internal resourcing challenges. I was selling deals but we didn’t have the staff to deliver in a timely fashion so I wasn’t getting paid as we billed time and materials for development.

Had people begging to get started but I couldn’t help them - not a fun situation, and totally out of my control

It really depends, but for the most part if you're in Sales, WFH is the best.  As long as you hit quota, who cares where you are at physically?

That’s what I think as well. I’ve never missed quota, last year I was at 203% working from home all year. I’m very professional and even work in at night or whenever if need be. And sometimes during the day I might go to the gym or relax for a bit. Things I wouldn’t be able to do in the office

100%^ It's all about results and developing a solid relationship of trust with your management. I like to see coworkers in person once or twice a year, but I feel that remote-work enables professionals to get their work done, live more life, and set reasonable boundaries. Sometimes I get more done at 10pm. Better to accept the focus and willpower than to have stringent hours.
Also remote digital nomad life has been fun this past year. Open to ways people structure their days...

I'm managing some other sales teams so being there when they are in is important. I also find if I'm not there to put out fires in other departments things don't get done.

I could work from home but the company wouldn't hit my targets so I'm back in full time.

Yeah totally makes sense. I'm going to enjoy WFH as long as I can as when I'm in a management position it will be much different.

NGL I'm like 50/50 on if I want to keep this mgmt position. We'll see come bonus/profit sharing time.

For now its more trouble than its worth.

what are your options if you don't want to keep the position? work somewhere else or just switch roles in the same company?

Blow it up
Go back to being just a salesperson, but then they'll hire a sales manager and I'm not too keen for someone to be inserted between myself and the CEO in the reporting chain whose sole job look over my shoulder.

Right now the extra headache is worth it for the freedom to do what I want with little oversight and questioning.

my office is a good hour away with traffic so that's annoying. we go in once a week to keep the lights on and not get our branch closed down. I'd quit if I had to work in office every day... well after I found another job like you lol

It really depends on what the office is like and how far away it is. I work entirely remotely right now and it is very nice for many reasons. Sometimes I feel like I have imposter syndrome, though. There are many days where I work for 6 hours, stop doing stuff around 3ish and nobody knows. Heck, there are some days where I only work 2 hours. Not like that wasn't ever a thing before, but now nobody knows. Flip side, nobody sees me on days when I work 10 hours and get a bunch done. Anyway, long story short it would have to be a great office for me to come in 4-5 days a week, though WFH is still an unstudied set up IMO as we're only about 2ish years into this new world of ours. Congrats on your flexibility though! Happy to hear it's working for you!

I would quit my job before having anything lined up if they pulled WFH. I don’t have the time or energy to drive to office to see a bunch of idiots and join zoom meetings from an open air office space. My job is not face to face with anyone outside of coworkers. This pandemic has killed my poker face and I’d get fired day one with with amount of eye rolling and screaming into my monitors I’ve become accustomed to in the privacy of my own home. 🤡

Our company is trying to force everyone to come back minimum 1 day a week. The thing is, I love the WFH lifestyle, I've never done better! Seriously! I am already #1 for the year, at my annual # 6 months in. I've traveled to multiple countries including Dominican Republic, Brazil, Mexico (x2), and an currently in Eastern Europe for a 4-month stint. It's so not happening...

Still work from home 98% of the time. I would resign if I was forced to go in, although the office is only a couple of subway stops away. WFH is going to be a must for my next gig!
