Does this sound SaaS enough?

Hey fam,

Ive been interviewing and one of the companies im speaking with is an "all in one cloud based back office".

They also offer other services, so, I'm wondering if this would still sound like SaaS.

The reason I ask is that if i move to a different company in the future i wouldnt want them to be like "no, fucker, youre not coming from saas".

For me, if it is cloud based, it is SaaS, right? Even if other services are offered as well.

Is this SaaS enough?

The idea of what saas is and is not has gotten really fucked up. SaaS by definition is Software as a Service. IE you buy my software and pay me monthly/quarterly/yearly for said services. SaaS is a business model, not an industry or vertical.

Should be pretty easy to determine from there.

Thanks for defining it so clearly. Based on this definition it is 100% SaaS.

Truth is, you can spin it in a way that removes all doubt. If you want it to be SaaS on your resume, make it that way. So long as you're not outright lying, nobody is going to freak out.

SaaS is basically any software NOT installed on your computer but you still access.
Facebook and LI are SaaS products.  So is Salesforce and Sharepoint.

I don't think you have anything to worry about here. I went into a company that had some SaaS-based offerings but was mainly old school software, and am now back into SaaS with no problem.

Thank you, Chief. It seems like it is similar here, the software isn't old school but it seems to just be an enhancement of the other services offered.

Then you're good, as long as you can tell a story.

If your company is hosting and managing the solution and providing the customer access to a portal/login (which it sounds like it is) it’s SaaS.

i would say yes. another factor is do they have a subscription, or pay one time.

if you pay one time for a product and then can use it for life, i wouldnt consider it a Saas product but that is kinda nitpicky

Great point. It is a subscription (quarterly/yearly) so I think it fits the definition.
