Family Teachings and/or self learned skills

So i was wondering, a lot of times we have to learn all the new skills by ourselves because as kids we were not told about it, and when you become an adult you get hit by the adulthood truck just in the face and you got to learn A LOT .

Same thing with sales, when i was a kid my parents NEVER told me anything related to that, even though my dad was a salesman, or maybe I didn't even realized he did

So i would like to know what skills did your parents teacher you for adulthood and or sells, or what skills you wished your parents had taught you, which of the skills you use today had to be learned the hard way?

My dad taught me how to drive - but the real lesson came when doing a 6 hours trip... that was full of panic moments...

I've had to learn a ton the hard way, and I wouldn't change a thing. I am who I am now because of it. 🦊

My dad tried to teach me everything he knew, he still does. I once asked where cheese came from (I was 6) he spent a 5-hour drive explaining all the steps, everything from the cow getting pregnant to the cheese getting to the super market. Then he quizzed me. I got a 3/100. Worse drive ever xD

I wish I would have learned more accounting as a kid. Would have taught me to sell candies at a higher price in school!

My father taught me reason, my mother taught me persistence.

Both useful in sales.

I wish they would teach you more about how to build a business instead of how to be an employee

yeah, now days a lot of what you are told as a kid is get a nice and stable job, they don't teach you how to be an entrepreneur, how to be successful, how to make and move money like a pro, its really sad

My dad would constantly say, “It doesn’t matter what you meant to say. What matters is what your audience hears” Even though he was saying that to an angsty teenage girl who was probably always a total b!t€h- it has done me a world of good in this career.

Well, if I have learned something in life, it is that the best way to learn is with experience, what is learned from other people is only the basics, it is how riding a bike you really learn is by falling

you are right there, sometimes you just have to learn from experience to really get something

Nee 100% true. Mine works in construction. I did that during summer breaks in college. Mad respect for him. (Not only because of that)

I have started business lines with both friends and family. I'd say it's easier with friends since usually you have the same hierarchy, with family is tough when you are a bigger holder than a parent, since they demand authority as a parent, even though you own a bigger percentage of the company.
