Happy to be where I am!

Hey savages!

It's been a tough few months for me. I lost my dog in December. Spiralled and on advice of a few folks here, threw myself into work. January, I finally closed 3 deals here since I joined my current company in November.

I broke up in Feb. Again, hit rock bottom. Work was my cushion again. It's not like I turned into a workaholic both times but being around people helped. Closed 7 deals in Feb. March had an expo we participated in so we got a shit ton of leads. We added 3 folks to the team as well. By EOD March 31st, I'd closed 10 deals, including an enterprise client. We, on the whole closed 34 sales in March.

I guess I'm sharing this to help anyone who might be going through a low point in their careers or lives. I honestly never went through any sales trainings at any point of my life. I guess my strength lies in being able to present stuff well and being patient. No sales methodologies, no books, no course, no mentors. Just belief in my abilities.

I recall seeing a comment on another post here that said sales is cyclic. You have great times, but you also have bad times. If you're in a phase where you're having a bad time, remind yourself that you've not reached any 'finishing line', there's still more prospects, more deals to close and of course, more money to be made. Just try to zoom out for a second and be grateful for where you are, remember your strengths, your past wins and hold on to that feeling. Because things get better. Better things are coming!

Have a super Sunday! Spoil yourself!

When you're going through rough times, know that while extremely unique and personal to you, it's rather universal.

Hard, gritty, emotional, strenuous. Sales is fucking tough.

Congrats to you on keeping your head down and not letting personal affect your targets professionally.

Losing a best friend (the dog) is harder than breaking up, I think. But your resilience through sales hell is the thread that makes this post golden. Congrats on the emergence from all of it.

Love this post, really resonates... I`ve stuck to sales through some tough times myself and there`s no way around it - you`ll always have the lows, but the highs will more than compensate for them :)

Glad things are working out for you.

Sales is definitely a roller coaster. One day sucks and then next day is great. Thatโ€™s why not everyone can work in sales. You canโ€™t manage the ups and downs, maybe you should be in HR or Marketing.

Happy to hear this Jackrabbit! Sales can be wild ride at times, it's important to cherish the good times as they come.

Way to crush those deals.

So sorry to hear about your dog. That's rough. It sounds like you have kept things in perspective about the sales life, but when you think about it, that is life in general. Great positivity!

Oh, nice of you to give everyone a booster here.
And Yes, I totally agree with you, a good presentation to the product and having enough patience with the prospect are the main keys to any success when it comes to sales!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. That is very hard to go through. They never live long enough.

I appreciate you sharing your story and the reminder that things can and will get better. I admire your persistence and perseverance.

Hope to see you contributing around here as well.

There's something to be said about falling in love with the journey and not focusing so much on the end goal.
