Help me choose an offer

I made a post last week about making the transition to tech sales from insurance. I was on the job hunt for 3-4 weeks and I now have two companies stating that they're getting the offeres approved by finance and i'll be receiving them by Friday. Reason this is hard is because one company is in tech and the other is not.

Option 1 is not in tech but is remote and is the same type of work; also fast growth and looking to promote in 6 months. Option 2 is in tech but in person with option for hybrid down the road, also stated that you have to be at least 1 year in before being eligible for promotion.

Extra: Option 1 is as an Enterprise BDR for an Environmental Services company (No tech related products) and seems more like a workhorse culture whereas Option 2 is as an SDR in a tech company with HCM products and seems more laidback. Neither company has capped commissions.

What would you do in my situation?

If you want to be in tech sales.. take the tech sales job. Also don’t be discouraged by the 1 yr promotion rule, that’s not very long at all. Many orgs are now keeping SDRs in chair for multiple years.

Well, to be honest, they may still keep him in that chair longer. Says minimum 1 year before promotion. And companies love to not be completely honest about the upward path.

I'm confused. Are these tech sales jobs?

Sales Development Representative
Yes, sorry I didn’t clarify. Option 1 is an Enterprise BDR for an Environmental Services company (Not tech related products) and Option 2 is an SDR position at a tech company with HCM products.

Not capped at either company

Any more info about team attainment, metrics?
2
Sales Development Representative
Not really other than the fact that option 2 hired a new SDR manager in December because under the last one the team was not reaching quota and now with this new manager within 3 months the whole team reached quota except for one person last month.

Definitely worth asking, OTE is only real if they have metrics to prove it.

1, Remote will save you almost 10k in commute and food alone. I'm also a believer that a remote role is worth 5k on my base salary if that had to be a choice

Good perspective. Often very true. Nobody thinks about the food... I don't know why a salad is like $17

It's $17 because enough people will pay it, if it wasn't prices would drop or they go out of business...
