How often do you get paid your commish? Quarterly or Annually?

We're moving from a quarterly payout model to an annual model.

Not too keen on this, I prefer our old method of paying on a quarterly basis.

What does your payout structure look like? Also are you selling SaaS (getting paid on contract value) or selling services (getting paid on realization of client invoices)?

Quarterly or monthly is the way to go, never heard of annual. Sounds like a scam to keep cash high for investors or something.

Annual commission payout?  Get out of there now before they owe you so much you are stuck there!

I would be nervous that their next step would be to fire me right before the annual payout.

One note: Most insurance brokers and underwriters are paid an annual bonus based on firm and individual performance.

Monthly. I get paid when the company gets paid.
Annual? Wow, that sucks. That’s begging for the company to hope attrition allows them to keep commissions.

yeah....thats a big no for me dawg.

once a year???? that just sucks haha.

Im in Saas, I get paid on the full ACV (if its a $100K deal for 3 year contract I get paid on $300K) quarterly.

I also get credit when the contract is signed. not when they pay us.

ive been in a role where i didnt get paid untill they pay the company, and it was a monthly deal. if they pay us $1k per month i got paid as if i closed a $1k deal....every month for 12 months. THAT fucking sucked.

Annual? What is the fucking deal cycle like? Holy shit that just seems like a bad idea for performance/retention etc.

It amazes me the amount of idiocy that exists in startups.

last day of the month following the deal closing. So if I close a sale today (April 11th) I would get paid on it May 30th (or 31st, idk how many days there are in may lol)

Mine is monthly plus quarterly payouts.  I’m not sure what their logic is for going annual other that being completely selfish and effectively keeping your money so they can use it for other things.  I would not hang around unless you are absolutely okay with it.

Monthly on contract value, the month after the campaign runs. So if it runs 4/1, I get paid 5/30, regardless if they paid us yet.

Quarterly here, we are a tech startup so may be more challenging to move to monthly.  But can we pause on ANNUALLY, that is terrifying unless your Base/Commish split is like 90/10.  I dont know anyone in SaaS paying out annually

You likewise might have had an idea that an acquisition would be disruptive, but your project is underway, and unless you had reason to suspect the future parent might pull the plug, there's no telling how you avoid this.
