I hate sales training that does this

I recently started a part-time sales gig to help fund my hypnotherapy business.

And this company wants me to go through this training they purchased for me. And it's fucking awful.

It has super surface level advice for asking discovery questions. "If someone says he's upset because he's fat, ask him WHY. If he says because he feels like he's missing out on life, ask him WHY." For one thing, I'm not selling a fitness solution. And second, asking why over and over again is how you get fucking slapped.

But that's not even the worst part. This dude views himself as not only a sales trainer but a self development guru. Half of the training has had bullshit about morning routines, breathing exercises, "identity documents," stories about Jesus, lessons in alchemy about magnetism and how everything is vibrations, and the most basic, boring, stupid shit.

It's not even that I'm skeptical of what he's saying per se. Some of it's fine. But it has fucking nothing to do with selling and it's insane that my company wasted money on this for me.

I'll watch it out of respect and to make a good impression but holy fuck it's bad.

I quit wendys in the first day because I was watching training on how to use the sparkling sink. I kept the hat and they took it out of my $14 paycheck.

Been trying to get my hands on a Wendy’s hat for a while now-only way to do it would be to get a job with them right?

Potentially unpopular opinion. Or a popular opinion. I really don’t gaf.

Sales training is valuable at the beginning of your career and for making underperformers perform at a mediocre level.

Strong sellers don’t need to change their methodology each time a new sales leader thinks they know better. The new hotness in training is a waste of time for top performing savages.

We should all be learning, adjusting, and practicing our craft. But the corp trainings are garbage.

That's a big yikes. *sounds like you just need to follow the breathing exercises*

I would just get through it as fast as possible and then use better sales methods in your process.

The sales development guru part is the absolute nail in the coffin.

Did he ever have a bad month as an SDR? Who appointed him sales development guru?
